24 Hours in Police Custody

The craziest thing about that was he admitted it! There wasn't even a question of believing the victim.
I can't understand how all that crap about PTSD and she came on to him made any difference at all to whether he commited an offence by driving a member of the public to a isolated spot and having sex with her in his police car.

The second episode is actually worse because none of them believe there is racism in the police force and even the investigators don't really think the officers involved did anything wrong.
I know 😞. Honestly don't think I can stomach any more now you've said episode 2 is as bad.

I've watched the other two episodes now and it doesn't really get any better.

From the closing credits of episode 3:

In the 4 years over which this series was filmed 5178 complaints were made against Avon and Somerset police officers and special constables

Of the cases that have been finalised 4175 cases led to no further action

43 officers were dismissed

3 officers were convicted of criminal offenses
That's just one force and who knows how much stuff has gone on that hasn't been reported

it gets to the point where I wonder if the Chief Constable commissioned the TV series out of desperation to shine a light on the issues in her force. It’s not exactly fostering positive relations
I'm kinda wondering this now too :hmm:

hmm it is new woop

point for aspiring criminals if you don't want to look really guilty to police
don't say no comment to your police caution

Fucking hell, there some right thick bastards in jail now. Them 2 getting lumped off with 12 years and they might as well have walked into the police station with big neon signs "guilty"

So Luton Unitary Authority have written formally to Bedfordshire Police asking them to stop assisting in making 24 Hours in Police Custody as ‘it shows the town in a bad light’ …

I think the chief constable has told them to do one.

That was good but also really sad! I have questions though. Why did that man (trying to not spoil anything here!) have cameras in his hallway and kitchen?

It was run by a charity and he was living there because he'd had a serious accident.
The making up his own prescription cocktail to the doctor in the police office was a good one - 'Yes, I am on fentanyl off my doctor, can I get a top up please?' 😂

God that Wisbech one was so miserable. It felt like voyeuristic glimpse into all those chaotic lives so many uninvolved people just up to day to day sketchy shit. The dispair across generations.

It was only touched on but the victim seemingly falling out with her son the night she died was heartbreaking.

And was there any motive? Robbery?

Who was the bloke with all the CCTV? And that main police officer was just weird, I'd said it before on another episode but she just has a weird demeanour that doesn't come across well.

The role call at the end was shocking. A lot of them surprisingly young.

Tbf most crims are thick as pig shit. 😂

Well in the UK, fortunately for the old bill many career criminals are failures at everything else and equally shit at crime. But:

The really dangerous but also ‘good’ OCGs are made up of people from countries where crime is a much more rational decision in terms of the benefit re the risks. When you get non dysfunctional intelligent people doing it they are much more effective, although their violence though more ‘rationale’ can have a worse effect on the communities they prey on.

Also, I’ve always thought there a significant number of home grown people who aren’t stupid committing crimes loans not getting caught unless they get unlucky. If you pick your offending, and aren’t stupid you could probably get away with a fair bit. Commercial burglary, high value car crime and some frauds spring to mind…

Every OCG and I do mean every single one of them, is doomed to failure from the get go. They may have a run of good fortune and make a few quid at whatever but invariably they'll be grassed up, get too cocky and take risks etc etc. Once you go past a certain point in criminality, irrespective of anything else, there's only 2 outcomes, prison for the long run or the grave.
