2015 British Sandwich Week - 11th to 17th May

I am currently sitting beside five or six huge trays of sandwiches - and its a private client, so its the good sandwiches.

So far, only half the expected number has turned-up, so it looks like lots of leftovers!

Just had a 'nacho chicken on a soft low fat flour chilli tortilla'. The name doesn't make much sense, but blame M & S. It was alright.

Haloumi and Lime Pickle - Nice!

Some kind of very light creamy cheese, thin sliced olives and salsa - Nice!

Roast beef and a light spicy sauce - Also very nice.

Some kind of fish substance that looks all the most worrying colours to me, probably lovely but I think I'll pass.

Going back for round two soon! :D

Jealous!

Wonders if going for round three would be impolite, or will I wait to split the leftovers with the catering staff? :D

More sandwich-specific info required too please pogo ;) Breads, fillings, spreads, cut, platter, staff etc

Haloumi & Pickle is in some kind of flat/unleavened bread cut into strips with fresh herbs sprinkled over.

The Cheese/olive/salsa is quarters in white bread and the roast beef is on quarters of toast, again with a small amount of salad garnish.

Was the platter satisfactory, and were the staff well dressed and deferential?

I'm actually discretely counting the bottles of wine and wondering if I can spirit a few away too!

I managed to get a free bottle of wine to take home from a reception hosted by a government minister who was a member of the HoL many years ago. I was already pissed as they'd promised us proper food but only laid on crisps and the like, so we hammered the booze. I suspect the taxpayer paid for the wine, but they'll be pleased to know it was a rather nice bottle of red. :D

Very satisfactory - apart from being a little dainty and polite. I'm thinking of tucking-in to some more after I've finished my coffee/had my shot

The staff were impeccable - the one in charge was a former student of mine and I'd have been disappointed if he failed to be a wee bit offhand with everyone. :D

His two servers were fine and dressed in different smart black outfits - One kept my glass topped-up, unbidden, whilst the other gave me a sly dunt when I dozed-off in the face of a dynamic deluge of full-throttle marketing-speak!

The clients had their eye on the wine too and got most of it back to the hotel with them - one bottle was left, so I left it to the three caterers.
