I think the main worry with ticks is that if you don't get the legs out as well as the body they can cause infection.

I'd just keep an eye on the area where it was attached and maybe bathe it with a bit of hibiscrub or salt water.

It's a bit late now but ticks "unscrew" anticlockwise. A straight pull can leave the head still attached and if this happens, it is my understanding, that the head can still introduce its nasties into the host

The last bit of this discussion has just strengthened my resolve about keeping indoor only!

I am now struggling to get in and out of the bedroom what with kittens going MerrrOOOOW (Ani) and Eeeeeeep (Atty) and flinging themselves at me, they need to be given wider access to the flat soon, I do have to get exposed carpet grippers taken up in the hallway first though, I've cut my feet on them a few times and it was OK when we had cats that didn't dash everywhere at 100 miles an hour and just pottered about, but they need to come up now we have kittens - it all happened so quick I didn't have time to get it done, going to try to arrange that for early next week if I can book someone to come and do it.

Making a Bolognese sauce for later today and just gave them a plateful of raw minced beef, seeing the cute oh so sweet little babies going at it with their fangs is a reminder why we generally only keep small species of the cat family as pets

Just wait until they've got access to the kitchen as they'll be climbing up your legs when you're trying to cook!

The other job I am trying to get done is to get the kitchen door put back on, no way I want kittens in the kitchen while I am cooking!

It's just a whole different experience compared to having elderly cats, one I'd sort of forgotten but am quickly remembering

I think they worked that one out a good while back.

They will be getting fixed soon, so I'll start letting them out properly soon. Sgarba's staying so small until her recent growth spurt kept me delaying it.

We achieved full under the covers cat cuddle situation today, they weren't just on the bed when I woke up, they were under the duvet with me - sensible lads, it's a bit chilly.
N hasn't had cuddles yet, he's feeling a bit crap about it but I have explained to him that he's not here as much as I am and advised him to stay in bed reading/browsing the web on Monday when he's off work, so they can get more used to him.

Atty really reminds me so much of Sonic

Their voices are hilariously different.
I might have mentioned earlier that Oriental Bicolours like Atty are every bit as vocal as regular Siam/OSH, but due to outcrossing they don't all have a very deep voice.

So Ani (Siam) goes MerrrrrrrrOWWWW. And Atty (Ori Bicolour) goes eeeeeeeeeewaaahooo really quite squeaky and high pitched

Both adorable, I can tell which one is talking to me even when I can't see them Oh and they are both making lots of noise now - it is one of the things I love about Siam/OSH cats, they tell you what they are thinking
Barely a thought goes through their head without them telling you about it

Hahaha! Me and an ex-bf had a cat that loved melon, whereas his sister didn't. He was the only cat I'd ever known to love melon.

Epona am sure on here people understand and saw the love you gave jakey. You are now caring for two new boys and thats what Jakey would have wanted. Am crap at typing what i mean plus i have a heavy cold and cough so feeling full of the joys of spring. You need to take care of yourself then take care of the boys. Emotions will be haywire thats understandable but take care of yourself first and foremost.
