Your daily cat and kitten news

Looks a bit like she's floating in the night sky against a sea of stars!

Wouldn't mind betting that if the sun has been out at all, the metal of the bonnet remains a bit warmer than the surroundings for a little bit after the sun has gone down.
Cats can detect differences in heat to a nanodegree...
Even at half 9 with sundown at 7?

To weigh the corpses of her vanquished prey? :D

Jakey has been indoor all his life but still when he was younger found ample opportunity for hunting, in a flat in a London block - one weekend he caught 7 mice - he brings them to me as offerings. Live. 😫
One of my cats was an indoor cat before I had him as his previous owner lived on a busy main road. Once he'd settled in with me and I started to let him go out he went on a killing spree and kept bringing back pigeons and rats.

Thankfully, he seems to have given up hunting now he's an old boy but he certainly made up for lost time.

As it’s National Poetry Day, here’s my contribution (inspired by a night's sleep rudely interrupted by a certain cat's shenanigans) entitled “Vic is Being Beastly”

Vic is being beastly.
He’s not a wicked cat.
Generally sweet natured
Unless he’s doing “that”.
When I least expect,
He mounts my leg
And starts to bump and grind.
He’s neutered but I still suspect

They left something behind.

(ETA Apparently it’s National Cat Day too so this is an accidental 2-in-1 😎)

This is a limerick I wrote for one of my dear departed cats years ago.

A fat ginger tom cat called Roger
Moved into my house as lodger
He spends most of the day
Finding places to spray
And I chase him around shouting "Sod yer!"

It happens so rarely that it's worth remarking upon: I actually got bitten last night.

As usual I'm reading in bed and my corss-legged thigh is being used as a pillow, as I tickle his tummy. I decide it's a good idea to try to wipe the bogies out of both eyes. This isn't popular, and hence my finger gets quite a firm bite, which is very rare for such a pacifist cat.

He got over it quite quickly and resumed the tummy-tickling position within about 30 seconds.

Crashed out after a hard night's rodent patrol. Why she likes me to hold her back leg is a mystery but there you go.

Sadly I think I'm going to have to keep shutting the door at the top of the stairs routinely now she's trained me to leave the cat flap open at night. She's just too excited to be a restful presence.

I now feel like she was in a state of suspended animation a lot of the time when kept indoors.

Yeh, I soon gave up on the idea of keeping Jocky in at night. When we first left him alone for a few days, we couldn't close the kitchen door cos he wouldn't be able to get in or out for 3 days, and by the time we got back he was used to it. He bloody loves going out at dusk or last thing at night, for a little check around his yard. We do keep the living room door closed which leads to the stairs though, as otherwise he tries to kick the bedroom door down in the night.
