Your daily cat and kitten news

Me and Cat have been doing the Dance of the Mouse and the Doors.

I’m sitting at my desk when it begins
Cat comes through the cat flap in the back door and he gives the Call of the Dance of the Mouse and the Doors
We both pause in ominous readiness
Then we dance!
He approaches
I stand
I step forward
Cat stops
I see he has a mouse
Cat makes the Trill of Generosity
Cat drops the mouse
We both wait…
He looks up at me, I look down at the mouse (is it alive or is it dead?!)
Mouse moves! (Or, in variations, doesn’t)
Cat jitters a jig to catch the mouse
I take the lead and, using a variety of moves, ad lib, both to open the front door and simultaneously to get behind Cat to encourage him towards the door (this is the free-form section of the dance)
Cat pauses on the threshold
I pause to see if he will employ the going out variation, or the darting back inside variation
Cat steps daintily over the threshold, into the night
I raise a cry of celebration, close the door, and return to my work
Cat now does the secret private part of the dance while I continue my work, in a state of attendant apprehension
I’m sitting at my desk, and it begins again
Cat comes through the cat flap, and there is an ominous pause….
Repeat as many times as necessary

My lot use to have their tea at 5pm but they have somehow managed to bring it forward to 2.45pm!
It's like the seagull scene from Finding Nemo, and the closer it gets to feeding time, the louder the feeding cries, with each subsequent meow trying to out-loud the previous. I can deal with the meows by putting some music on and turning it up, but then I have to indulge in a game of musical keyboard cats, where a cat jumps up to my right, and sits between me and the keyboard, so I pick up the cat, turn left, and release it onto the floor, then turn back to find another one at or on the keyboard. Scream and repeat.

Their body clocks seem to remain the same even though the clocks change twice a year. I feed Lilith at 17:00 as that's when I start my own tea, but she starts reminding me around 16:00.

My lot used to have set mealtimes, but now it's just the one elderly lad with an appetite that comes and goes, I just feed him half a pouch any time I see him look at his bowl or if he asks for food (he has certain ways of asking me for particular things, not bad for a cat of very little brain).

I'd do the same if I only had the one but I've got 5 and if you give one food then they all want it.

I've got one who's known as blabbermouth as she comes into the kitchen mid morning wanting more food and I'd happily sneak her an extra breakfast but as soon as she sees me going to the cupboard she starts shouting FOOD, FOOD I'm having FOOD and before you know it all the other have started to appear wanting more. They end up all having a handful of Royal Canin instead.
