The rescue say they don't think the fox is a danger.

Meanwhile I'm doing battle with the microchip cat flap, which doesn't want to register Carrie's chip. The company sent me a test chip, which works perfectly from up to a foot away. While I was talking to the rescue I ran this past them - the guy chipped her himself and always scans the chip before and after so it's a mystery.

They can migrate and I guess a test chip is free in the air rather than encases in cat flesh :hmm:

Neela did not get on with the microchip catflap, her chip had migrated down her back (you could feel it...it something rice grain like) and she was scared of it  because it clicks when it does pick up the chip.

Can you just use it as a standard flap for a while without chip recognition or will the fox try to get in?

I took the carpet off the stairs today and Pan and Amity do not like the change at all, it looks and feels and smells different.

those little springs are the best value toys ever ...

Yes, they go mad for them. Although I had to buy a load because they lose so many. Under doors, beds and other furniture they can't get under now. I still have to go on occasional recovery misions with a torch and stick!

And they don't hurt/unbalance you when you stand on them in the dark! :D

Aye my Sonic was a fan of a scrunched up till receipt.
He wasn't allowed some other types of regular cat toys because if they had a mouthfeel too much like real prey (ie. involving fur) he'd become agitated and aggressive towards the other cats once he had hold of the toy, and an agitated OSH singing the (war) song of his people is not something that other cats in the household enjoy very much. I'd approach him to take the toy away and the pitch of his growl would rise the closer I got to him, like someone playing a theremin (I was always confident that he wouldn't bite or scratch me, he was all mouth and no trousers - but what a sweary gob he had on him!) And if toys involved too much fluff or feathers, he'd ingest as much of the toy as he could.

Fortunately a balled up bit of paper was safe and enjoyable for him!

my Speedy was very economical: his favorite toy was a balled up piece of paper. his second favorite toy was a flat piece of paper. when i boarded him, i was told that he'd reach outside his cage, pull inside the card with his name on it from put of the slot, and tear it up. :D
I didn't think I was going to get special toys when Carrie arrived as rolled up paper bags and odd bits of string have always stood me in good stead before. She does like her catnip carrot though. The springs were initially appealing but haven't stood the test of time.

I would take any hair ties/string/ribbon/elastic type stuff away from her if she finds them to play with - I am certain you know this but they can be dangerous if swallowed, and once it's in the mouth the backwards barbs on a cat's tongue prevent them from spitting stuff like that back out!

She's obviously doing well, lovely glossy coat on her :)

I am very paranoid about that with Lilith. I have to say that having her has made me much tidier, as I'll pick up any cruddy bits I see on the floor!

from cats of yore on blooski

I’m making up my own title for this one, “Woman sits down to read when suddenly her cat desperately needs to go outside even though she just let him in literally 1 minute ago.”

A beautiful color illustration of a white lady with her hair up in a voluminous bun and wearing a long blue dress, both distinctly Edwardian. She is sitting in a wooden chair and looking at the viewer with a flat, subtly exasperated expression. Beside her on the floor stand a lovely shorthaired classic brown tabby, looking brightly up at her with its tail perked up happily.
