Your daily cat and kitten news

Uhoh - gsv bought some cooked prawns from Costco for part of our dinner. Held on out to Vastra, she sniffed it, licked the tail, then seemed to ignore it. Then he put in the floor her and a few moments later it was gone, then we heard the squeaky gate' sound that is Vastra yelling 'MOAR' - several prawns were required....

I'm pretty sure they delivered the wrong cat. This isn't the shy, nervous one I was expecting.

After a hard day lounging on the windowsill* on the stairs (which lets her keep an eye on both the garden and me at my desk) she's now savaging my yoga mat after going mad with a pencil.

*I had cleared it and put a towel there in case she fancied it, so a rare case of a cat doing what a human intended it to do.

She's so beautiful, and it's fantastic that a nervous adult cat from stray background and then foster care is settling in so quickly, I think you may well have found your feline friend for life there :)

Here is the slightly chubby and extremely friendly ginger boy I met in a park yesterday, he was making his way around the whole park saying hello to people (who had obviously come to the park with the sole intention of visiting him, of course!) he demanded stroking and head rubs and then settled down on the bench next to me. I think he lives in one of the houses next to the park, which is of course his territory. He's clearly very well looked after, his coat was in great condition.

Thankfully I seem to be finding some success with feeding Jakey a mix of different things - he was always really really not fussy and very greedy up until a couple of months ago, but has now got very fussy.
It seems to be going OK and getting enough food (just about, he is very skinny) into him by feeding a variety of Royal Canin Renal Wet slices in gravy, and Hills Prescription Diet K/D Kidney Care - but the latter is bigger chunks so I have to cut it up for him
I got a pouch of Royal Canin Renal Loaf today, he was never as keen on paté style foods when he was younger, but I just gave him half a pouch of that and mashed it up with a fork and he guzzled it.
Of course in the morning when I offer him the rest of the pouch he'll probably decide he doesn't like it. Or more likely wait til I've ordered a months worth

What an absolute beautiful cat and she's clearly found her spiritual home with you.

I feel so sorry for these cats who are stuck in rescues for months but only get their chance to shine when someone takes the plunge and adopts them.

To be fair, her foster carers were lovely. She basically lived as their family cat for that time and I'm sure that's a big part of why she's settled.

Just after I posted the above she came and sat on my lap for a bit!!!!!

It will be interesting to see how she reacts when you have visitors to the house..... whether she hangs around or retreats behind the sofa.

Oh she's LOVELY and I'm so happy for you both! That's a really quick adjustment, I agree that you must be made for each other.

Also I love the colour of your cupboards.

I've been ill and bedridden for about five days  The cats have been by my side the whole time. So sweet and such great, steady company. This morning I got up and worked downstairs. Ken walked past and did the most human double take :D Funny how they establish a new routine so quickly, he obviously thought that was it now - that big one is going to be in bed forever.

RubyToogood see if she'll play fetch!
Good call, Jakey is too stupid for it (that sounds horrible, but my sweet boy is a bit lacking in the brains department bless him!) but my Sonic used to LOVE a game of fetch with a balled up bit of paper.
When he wanted to play he would go and rummage around to find a shopping receipt and bring it to me :D
He took it very seriously, he was a very intense and serious cat.

I hope you are feeling better!

I’ve got the week off so doing some Olympic standard loafing outside. Vic has decided to join me so I got him his own deckchair so we can loaf together 😎😼

my neighbours made the mistake a few years back of getting just enough garden chairs for them, so of course any time one of them went inside for anything, they came back to find a sleeping kitty on 'their' chair.

they ended up getting another chair...

Yup - The kittens have already worked that one out for the living room chairs. I had to take the office chair through last night when Mrs Fish was round so they could get “a chair”! :D
