So in certain lights you can see a black cat is dark brown or may even look like it has a reddish tint
i thought they went rusty if they got left out in the rain

Awww, daddy's girl!
Our two aren’t lap cats but they follow us around and never seem more than a foot away. This is about as close as she'll ever come to sitting on someone!
You think a cat is black, until they go in the sun, when you realise they're just very very very very very VERY dark brown.View attachment 436790
The brown really pops in the sun
Excellent! At least she wasn't so nervous that she disappeared to another room and didn't come out at all, which is pretty good for many adult cats.So. I have been to meet Kerry. I had joked beforehand that she might flee on sight and that was nearly but not quite what happened.
She fled upstairs initially but then came back, so I saw her briefly. I'd brought some dreamies to make a good first impression and she ventured near enough to have a few licks then retreated under the sofa for the duration. She did consent to have a few more treats and licked my fingers. Occasionally a paw would appear to get a biscuit.
She's quite little and very pretty. Perhaps darker than her photos.
The fosterers think she would settle ok in a new home. It took 4 weeks before she came out from under the sofa at theirs but she's now quite relaxed and affectionate, particularly with the husband.
They also said she'd escaped through the bathroom window so I'd have to put some kind of barrier over the upstairs windows if I wanted them open (which seems likely in August).
But anyway I think it's a yes. I'd want to change her name as there's a human Kerry in my life, and they don't think she recognises it. I'm not sure cats do really and half the time people don't use their actual names anyway.

A lot of cats know their names and answer to them (it's why Jakey is still Jakey instead of something daft and not a regular human name of my own choosing!) but if she doesn't answer to Kerry then call her whatever you like
Inner City Kitties
Re names, I had thought of Carrie, which sounds nearly the same, as there was a prominent US suffragette called Carrie Chapman Catt. But anyone I've mentioned it to has brought up the horror movie.
Being not so knowledgeable about US suffragettes, but a massive Star Wars and horror fan, my initial thought was Carrie Fisher, followed by the Stephen King book and associated movie adaptationsRe names, I had thought of Carrie, which sounds nearly the same, as there was a prominent US suffragette called Carrie Chapman Catt. NB for people wanting indoor cats, Inner City Kitties only rehome indoors.
Barnes has really blossomed, he likes nothing more than to snuggle on the sofa or bed. He recently LOVES to chase a feather or kill a catnip mouse and has perfected the ancient cat art of settling down to sleep on your keyboard when you’re trying to work.
I don't understand how it's possible to have a cat live at floor level unless it's physically/neurologically incapable of jumping.
Jakey doesn't play except with his own poo but he has some "differences" I think is the best way of describing.
(not my cat, not my kid, but )
