Your daily cat and kitten news

Crossing everything for you Callie and Tiny Poo.

Also, sorry for your loss ffsear

And now it's my turn. I'm very sad to report that poor Lyndon took a turn for the worse over the last week and so yesterday we decided it was time to let him go.

We are, of course, gutted. Seemed particularly cruel after he rallied a couple of weeks back, but this Saturday I watched all the fight go out of him :(

From half-starved stray in Birmingham, to terror of our neighborhood in Devon (lady on local Facebook group actually called him "a terrorist!" fucking lol, they are murder machines lady) to surprise cuddles with Little Miss and finally soppy lap cat, he was the best of Gingers, he was the worst. We loved him. We still love him.

Really wish that the Love emoji didn't look so fucking happy. I'm sure you all get it though.

So yeah, thanks you lot. Been really feeling the loss today, not helped by my vet sending nice messages, bloody set me off again, had to go hide in the loo for a bit. Fucksake.

When Radar died, a few days later I got a sympathy card from the vet with his ink pawprint in it - it was lovely to have and I am so grateful for it, but opening that card up and seeing his pawprint utterly fucking broke me.
I dunno whether other vets do that sort of thing, but a sympathy card might be something to steel yourself for, if a little envelope turns up maybe don't open it until the evening/after work/after anything important for the day is done, when you've got time to unravel a bit.
It's good that they do it mind and I was glad of it. But in that moment I went to bits.

not sure if kitty next door (small black + white - must be about 15 now) has had an unpleasant experience or something - i've not seen much of her recently with the cold weather, but saw her this morning and she just turned and ran. she's always been variable about whether she wants a fuss, but that's unusual.

:(

she seems to have forgiven me - she was very purry when i put the bins out this evening, and she requested tummy rubs, which doesn't happen that often

Fingers crossed that the emails will be all I get. We took him home straight away, as we are lucky enough to have a garden, so he is in the same space as Rollo and Miss, so there won't be any pawprint and therefore reason to send a card, I hope. Will keep it in mind though.

I am pretty sure posters here will be familiar with that childhood game ‘Peep behind the curtain’, and I am even more sure that most of us have played that game with cats who follow you and freeze when you turn back to look at them.
To my delight today feral Harry decided to play the game with me, following up the pavement and my front path. I felt honoured yet again.

So sorry to hear about Lyndon
So painful losing them
Take care

short update on me triped ...

had another quite long session playing with the flirt pole, got a stroke in - with added purring.
she's eating well and eliminating properly

her bed's up on the sofa and she was sleeping in it this morning.

best of all she seems to have stopped the overgrooming, with just the usual post-prandial wash down.
that means her belly isn't red / irritated and I suspect there's a bit of floof re-growing.

:)

i'm not so sure about female kittehs of the opposite sex, but male kitties can, if they have been 'done' fairly early on, can need a bit of help like a hormone (?) shot to re-grow fur.

i can't remember the detail now, but one of the mogs i used to live with had this as he got a bit threadbare after an allergic reaction to something.

So Tiny Poo seems to be ok at the mo. Though the bloods the vets did on the most recent visit came back with very high thyroid markers so she's now on medication for that.

Slightly sinister the vet also mentioned liver markers but said they would need to be checked again in two weeks when they review her thyroid stuff.

She's currently chilling on my lap being cute and stopping me going back to work 😻👍

Callie my last childhood cat had an overactive thyroid for years. It was eventually removed but the medication managed it for a long time and she lived to the grand age of 18!

She was also the noisiest cat I’ve ever met! 😍

This is Shadow.

His original owner buggered off and left him, he then got taken in by a neighbour, but expelled for pissing.

His next home was diagonally opposite us, but he wasn't being fed, so he came to us and we fed him. He learned how to use the cat door, so we gave him a blanket on a chair in the kitchen then of course you awake and he is curled up on the end of the bed. He's been with us about four months now, and he shows no sign of wanting to leave. :)

He was desperately thin when he came to us, he's about 50% up weight wise. An affectionate wee soul. We didn't actually want another cat.:D
