Your daily cat and kitten news

I'm glad he seems a bit better Epona, hopefully it's just the shitty weather making him a bit down. Lilith has also seemed a bit listless today, although she's eaten OK. I wonder if cats get seasonal affective disorder, same as people.

Nah he was properly unwell with the nausea and vomming, he's an indoor cat so the weather isn't changing his routine iykwim. :(
I hope he will be a lot better tomorrow.

Don't want to speak too soon, but it seems Jakey is more or less back to normal today - must have eaten something that disagreed with him (had a bad mouse as another poster sometimes puts it!)
So haven't bothered the vet, he's scoffed food late last night, during the night, and today and kept it down OK, energy levels back up a bit too.
Keeping a close eye on him obviously, but cautiously optimistic.

Callie - I hope Neela had a good night

So just spoken to the vet about Neela. Confirmed pancreatitis but with chronic kidney failure (she's nearly 18 btw). They wanted to check her urine for ketones and glucose because if her high glucose blood test but she peed on the blanket they gave her instead of in the litter tray. (Cats!)

She has had fluids and they have been trying to keep her warm as she is cold. There doesn't seem to be much they can do re the pancreatitis other than monitor and support and give pain killers.

They have suggested referral to a specialist.

I don't know what to do.

I'm very sad she is alone/I can't be with her. Been trying to stay busy/distracted. OH is in transit on his way back from NZ so I can't speak to him about it all.

This sucks.

Very sorry that Neela is sick.. referral to a specialist might help though...at least it would mean she had every chance and you will know your options.

It's tough on her and you. I hope she will be let home to you very soon.
Big hug for you..(((Callie)))
