Women's World Cup 2019

Scotland deserved that. They have been the better side of late. England could have defended a lot better there but still a good finish.

I didn't see anything to worry us this evening and the result was good. Best thing today was there were women commentators for once.

Thinking about the VAR the other night, I thought it was a little clumsy with the ref going off the pitch like that. In rugby league, the ref tells the VA R refs what to look at and they deliver a verdict. Much easier.

Been busy so only been able to start watching yesterday. Argentina did well to fight out a draw against a good Japan side. Cameroon not so lucky against Canada. Who are the favourites? France, US, England?

I imagine USA are faves or Japan, who were runners up last time and winners the time before. Their issue in part was playing youngsters against Argentina.
Argentina's first ever World cup point
I am pleased to see that teams like Argentina did not playing in the style of their male counterparts, with the cheating, diving Etc.
That said, China were chalk and cheese in comparison to Japan. Japan were very respectful of their opponents, checking the player they had just fouled to
make sure they were alright Etc. whereas China went in hard and didn't look back.
To busy with cycling today to bother with footie this early....
NZ V Holland 14.00
Chile V Sweden 17.00
USA V Thailand 20.00.

Would expect a comfortable win for Holland and Sweden and a walkover for USA.

Japan look a good team but won't go far if can't beat teams like Argentina!

The Dutch done it then, but only just. I gather Martyns can play a bit :)

Yeah they knocked the ball around well, little wasteful of chances but got there in the end! New Zealand could have scored twice though first half, not bad either.

I've just found Sweden V Chile on BBC red button
Looks like Chile have parked the bus, but can't knock them for that.

Actually they hit well on the counter attack a couple of times first half, definitely going for lots of women behind the ball though.
