You're crass...but you have a point!Technically they can only bring back the trophy and title.
Yeah, I contemplated going to the games against Scotland or Japan, but just too far away, and just not keen enough on the Argentina game to make the trip. We've been thinking about going, but it'd be good if the England group games weren't in Nice, bottom left and le Havre, top right, with 1100km between them.
Same, and I guess we're not the only ones. The idea of trailing around the group stages then seeing what happens is quite appealing but London -> Nice -> le Havre -> Nice is simply absurd. You'd have thought the football authorities would have enough experience to be able to produce sensible arrangements but it appears not. I think the venues were planned before the draw, so they had no idea which teams would be playing at which venues. You'd have thought the football authorities would have enough experience to be able to produce sensible arrangements but it appears not. See also Baku.
They must have known that it wouldn't suit anyone. Group D appears to have 2 matches in each of Nice and Paris and one each in Rennes and Le Havre, so they're all over France. Surely it's more normal to cluster the group geographically, both for travelling supporters and locals who want to follow something coherent rather than having apparently random games, eg Le Havre hosts matches in groups B, E, D, A & F!I think the venues were planned before the draw, so they had no idea which teams would be playing at which venues.
Fans aside, it's also not the best situation for the players
Yeah, it's a fair point, anyone who got that berth would be in the same position. I imagine it's quite hard to satisfy everyone in every way, with so many moving parts, but you do wonder how it worked out like that. They must have known that it wouldn't suit anyone. sure, but they could at least try!I imagine it's quite hard to satisfy everyone in every way
