Please take a minute and look at your response? The police make stuff up. And lots of bad things happen in that place. And worse happened to me somewhere else. So clearly there's not a problem.
Seriously?

Where did I say it wasn't a problem?? I was merely pointing out the place is fecking dodgy, always has been ime, which is why I avoid it! I have absolutely no faith in any of the constabulary through out the UK, again due to experiences.

"You're a guffy cunt, you get no say."

I can find plenty of cites for its use in Aberdeen, and in doric generally.

Really - In pushing 50 years as an Aberdonian and Doric speaker, I cannot recall anyone using Guffy to describe an English person. Guffy - as in farting constantly, yes, or talking shite, yes but not racist.

Although I must say that if you are using the AFC boards for validation of racism, then yes you are going to get it - They can be very racist indeed and there have been several instances of racist trolls involved in disrupting other local boards/issues, being tracked back and identified as prominent members there.

Ha, my lovely housemate is from Inverurie :D

TBH, the ratio of twats to decent folk in Inverurie is rather high and despite being effectively a suburb of Aberdeen for the last 30/35 years, it still has a lot of the insular, "small town syndrome" to get over.

tbf I think this is a large part of the reason she moved to Bristol ;)

I was going to say maybe she left because she's one of the good folks :) but forgot.

I don't want to make light of Lemon Eddy's assault but I have to say it would have been just as bad and possibly worse if they had thought he was from Oldmeldrum - Some of the most violent street fights and unprovoked/random attacks I've ever seen have involved youths caught-up in this petty and pointless rivalry between the two neighbouring towns. :(

I wouldn't want to make light of any assault, but wanted to point out that mindless/unnecessary violence does happen rather too frequently there :(

"I think the guffy prick Alliss is the best commnetator on TV golf, the fact he is a guff is irrelevant and not something I would normally even bother to mention."
"Keep thinking that, guffy prick."
"Aye, fuck off you guffy cunt."
"here you go you guffy cunt"

You'll note that the usage in each example is specific to the nationality of the described.

Ahh - Fatshaft and quite possibly two of his numerous and all equally unpleasant alter egos.

See what I said about AFC Chat earlier. I've spent years kicking-off with this particular cunt on forum, after forum, where he regularly pops-up whenever Aberdeen is mentioned with his own peculiar worldview.

IIRC he's not even lived in Aberdeen for years, preferring to travel the world, tending his multitude of successful and proudly capitalist business ventures, which have made him the man/"professional Aberdonian" he is!

And if you have a shufty on Aberdeen Voice, you will find another of his alter egos starting the "I'm not racist but..." thing and then getting a major pwning - I don't think he's been back since. :D

Don't take this idiot's turn of phrase as indicative of anything Aberdeen.

And I still cannot recall ever hearing Guffy used in wild Doric as any kind of racist shit.

What I take as indicative of Aberdeen was having lived there for the best part of two decades. With regards to the use of Guffy as a racist insult for the english, can I ask how many examples I need to provide before you'll accept it? I had assumed you were scottish , so it didn't come as a surprise that no-one had directed it at you, apologies if this was a misassumption.

Actually regarding the ABE stuff, on the several occasions that I've been in Glasgow during a World Cup/Euro summer me and my companions have found the whole thing comically hilarious. Sports shops prominently displaying the shirts of England's group opponents, Argentina shirts everywhere etc etc It's hugely noticeable and just comes across a bit silly really.

Just an observation, my Scottish friends couldn't care less about this stuff

I think the ABE thing is bollocks myself but you can see the exact reverse all over twitter from English people any time Andy Murray's playing tennis. Twats are twats whatever country they're from.

I was up north last week. I asked everyone I met how they would vote. I found a lot of apathy and just one who would not answer, which I assumed meant they were going to vote yes. Some of the English living in Scotland declared a yes vote would be a disaster.

My mum was a Scot, I want the UK to stay together. More, I want us all to stay in Europe also!

It also bears mentioning that the biggest selling national team shirt in Glasgow in the World Cup summer of 2006 was... England

No we shouldn't, don't be silly. I have no right to impose my will on the Scottish people. If they wish to leave, it is not my business to tell them they can't.

But they are part of our union.
I am half Scottish and half English, I am British. A Scots woman from Aberdeen living in Surrey told me she thought we should all have a vote. Heck she is a scot and is denied a vote while 16 year olds who know nothing are being given the vote because Salmond thinks he can get an advantage from it!

Innit, if London were voting for independence I wouldn't expect people who didn't live here to have a vote. That's kind of the point..
Yes, I understand your point, but there are a lot of scots living outside Scotland, it is still their country too yet they are being denied a vote. Not even a postal vote, that seems wrong.

My mum was a highlander, she would be turning in her grave! perhaps she is!

Oh no, the know nothings there to vote differently from me. How dare it happen.

Say why for fucks sake. Make a case.

If they want a say in what happens in Scotland, they should live there. I used to live in Southampton, I don't expect to be able to vote there any more

English people opposing murray annd supporting his opponents because they're not scottish? Really?

yeah, I can't find a link with a picture of some of the tweets offhand but I recall it being all over the shop during Wimbledon, mentioned in this Daily mail article though

n the wake of Murray's defeat, some Scots have voiced well-grounded dark suspicions that the loyalty of many English tennis enthusiasts to Andy, the first Briton to reach the Men's final since 'Bunny' Austin in 1938, was at best lukewarm. Indeed a good few English fans - judging by their Twitter and Facebook remarks - went so far as supporting his triumphant Swiss opponent. So why should this be so?

Why? I cant vote in Australian elections and quite rightly so - I've lived here for decades.

All Scottish people should have a vote at least, even if at the moment they don't live in Scotland.

There should also be a vote for non Scottish people to see if they want the union to stay together. Even if it had no political mandate over the scots we would have the opportunity to have our say on the future of the union.

For someone like me 50% Scot 50% English born in Germany, I consider myself British first then European next. The fact that Scotland is voting to leave the union or not is bad enough but that twat Cameron is offering the chance to leave the EU as well if he gets re-elected is the icing on the cake. I want the UK to stay together and the UK to stay in the EU!

No they shouldn't. They've fucked off to live elsewhere, they can vote there :)

If you're already registered to vote in a general election here but currently short-term resident elsewhere you get a vote. If you've emigrated properly you don't. Seems fair to me.
