where are the pub quizzes in the area?

The Bear, The Mansion, and the Prince Regent (quizzes) are all run by the same people, which was profitable 18 months ago, when they didn't rotate the question sheets that often, hence them moving the Bear one to the same night as the Regent for a while.

There were some clapham types cheating on iphones at the PR before Christmas, and they ended up winning. Craptoffs.
 
Crispy noted last night that pub quizzes need to look back to the Wild West in order to prevent iphone-based cheating. Just as the good folk of Dry Mouth, Arizona were once required to check their guns at the saloon bar door, modern day quizzers should have to hand their iphones over to the barkeep for the duration of the game.

28.5 points. Anyway we had four people on our team - compared to 7 on yours. So on average we're cleverer. :):p

It was good fun - nice new format to the quiz too, and great to meet up once again :)

well, unless you have intimate knowledge of the ikea catalogue.. or have special ability for standing on one leg.. you didn't miss much. At least Pets Win Prizes had Dale Winton for comedy values.

I think we got disqualified for one team member's uncontrollable need to write swear words on the quiz sheet.. you know who you are

It really was fucking awful :mad:*

I didn't write the swear words but frankly it was entirely reasonable!
 
Could well be up for it. Our options:

Tuesdays: The Prince Regent (possible spods)
Tuesday: Bear, Camberwell
Tuesdays: Mansion, Gypsy Hill
Tuesday: Mango Landing


Thoughts?
 
Well, the Regent is the closest but full of brainy types. :hmm: Any of those would be OK by me tbh. :)
 
I might be up for quizzing tonight (with the usual caveat of maybe having to not turn up last minute). Any of the venues ok with me - quite fancy trying out The Mansion just to see what it's like but Camberwell also fine.

i have been wanting to check out their eggs benedict/florentine for some time - in fact last time I looked they had an extensive selection of hollandaise sauce based foods.. :D Obv wouldn't be doing that during a pub quiz though. :)

that's not a bad selection of brain cells.

Gotta be at least a runners up prize in that!

Every Tuesday at The Bear is Quiz Night.

Come test your knowledge and our menu in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere.
This is a popular event so we do advise for teams to arrive by 7.30pm for the 8pm start, to ensure they get a table. The maximum team size is 6 persons. (Although it has been known for individuals to win the quiz!)

It is £2 per player to participate, and the winning team takes the pot, with second place taking a bottle of wine.

There are extra points on offer for the best team name, and free drinks questions.
The kitchen is open on Tuesdays between 6-10pm.
 
Oh, well in that case why should we trek to Camberwell?

Shall we do the regent then kids? i fancy seeing how spoddy these spods are.
