What's the nicest bread?

I usually get granary but today bought wholemeal multiseed which is bloomin' tasty too. what other delights are there in the bread world and where would one purchase them?

Turkish flat bread typed stuff... Can buy it in the Turkish supermarket in Dalston and a few newsagents. Think there're other branches of the supermarket, but can't remember where.

Usually eat crappy Tesco's 'finest' wholemeal becaus eI'm too lazy to cook my own, but my favourite recipe is an old family one for thick, wholemeal country loves with crunchy crusts... uurgle.

Spelt - an archaic form of wheat. Truly delicious. Buy the flour & bake your own. Mix spelt/white flour for a more modern texture loaf, 50/50 or @25/75.

You really don't want to know what goes into most commercial bread these days - in fact, it can barely even be called bread.

Cant beat the taste of home made, freshly baked white bread with lashings of butter

But if Im buying from a shop, then I am quite partial to Vogel- Soya and linseed bread, the sunflower and barley is quite nice too :)

Wholemeal walnut bread. Or the flattish sourdough loaves you get in all over Morocco, fresh from the oven.

My hungarian/jewish roots for some reason manifest themselves mainly in my choice of bread products. I go for bagels, or anything with rye and caraway seeds.

my current fav involes wholewheat flour, honey, sunflower seeds and walnuts... mmmm mmmm, I love honey walnut bread. oh, and I bakes it myselfs

Organic sourdough from the local baker is the nicest bread, imho. If I'm buying from the supermarket, which isn't that often, I'm another fan of Vogel's Soya and Linseed bread.

Buy a bread maker then make parmesan and sun-dried tomato bread
Or, save the money and use it to buy flour, yeast and sugar. Then use your hands...

My home made spelt and multigrain bread with olive oil, hemp seeds and poppy seeds in it is the best.

I do like the fresh white loaves from the Turkish shop (Yasar Halim) on Green Lanes though.

What does spelt bread taste like? Does it have to be spelt correctly or is it often mis-spelt?

I like different breads from around the world but there is nowt better than getting stuck in and making your own, then buttering it whilst its still warm, mmmmmmmm

I like that posh bread that costs £2 and comes in a red packet - the sesame seed version is the tastiest

I'm actually considering phoning up the boss and telling him I'm sick just so I can go home and make some bread.... this is your fault northernhoard for putting the thought of hot buttered bread into my head

Can't afford a butty until I get paid... seriously skint this month. I am surviving on a packed lunch of cold brown rice with mixed beans

For supermarket bread, my favourite is Doves organic wholemeal, in the green and orange bag. Really heavy and dense but really tasty. Just cut it a bit thinner and spread loads of butter on it.

You hardly ever see it these days though :(

That unmistakable crunch and tare of the bread and the creamyness of the butter:D
