What's the nicest bread?

Kingsmill do a quite nice mixed batch seedy bread thing. only had it once at my sister's so don't remember exactly.

Marks and Spencers sunflower and honey loaf. yum. don't use it for sandwiches though, just with butter, or even on it's own, it's nice.

I like poppy-seed bread, with the seeds inside it, not just scattered on the top. I like the idea of the Vogels soya and linseed bread, but in practice it's not that nice, imo.

Home made focaccia is great :D

I like that focaccia bread you get from tesco where you pop it in the oven and it comes out all hot and doughy covered in either garlic or melted cheese. Mmmmm.

We call it Scally bread up ere cos all the local tracksuited youth wont eat anything else
:D

Marks and Sparks used to do lovely bread. They used to do this multigrain bloomer thing which tasted really nutty. Mmmmm.

Haven't been to M&S for food in ages though :(

I used to but Vogel's but have switched to Burgen when I'm in a pre-sliced mode.
I really like Cranks wholemeal.
And SODA FARLS and WHEATEN BREAD.

Never eat white bread but back home in Tyrone there used to be a real yummy pre-sliced loaf that was called a Plain Loaf as opposed to Pan Loaf which is the shape of normal sliced breads. Was kinda square with a burnt crust and drier in texture...used to be great toasted with loads of butter.

Sourdough and a nice, chewy granary are my favorites...

But I'll be honest, any bread is nice so long as it's fresh and not that nasty, fake white stuff.

Yup, you still get them in proper Scottish bakeries. :)

For supermarket bread, my favourite is Doves organic wholemeal, in the green and orange bag. Really heavy and dense but really tasty. Just cut it a bit thinner and spread loads of butter on it.

You hardly ever see it these days though :(

You can buy really dense bread from a bakers on Columbia road (besides Hackney road) next to/behind the royal oak. It was £2.50 a loaf five years ago when I last bought it there and the place is rarely open but the bread is well tasty. :)

I've been using breads from sprouted grains, I think, no flour, for diet reasons. But I love a good sourdough loaf, focaccia or a really dense grainy bread.

What about Hovis, do they still make that (not available in Canada.. )

I've made some coffee can bread, lots of seeds and some honey, on the sweetish side, very dense, like that.

Veda Malt Loaf (with no fruit) - have never seen it outside N.Ireland - the most fantastic thing toasted with butter - or au natrel with some good mature cheddar! Mmmmm ;-)

I love bread of all kinds.

I can't eat whole grain or granary though as it makes me feel very bad.

Vogels sunflower and barley bread.
Herberts overnight dough french stick-so yummy you dont need anything else with it at all!!

do like this, but sparingly;
