:( i have self-imposed drinking-on-weeknights-ban :(

Me too, and apart from when DJ'ing I'm also including spliffs. It's getting easier by the day and I feel better, which again makes it easier.

Tonight will be a Spanish saffron and root veg stew I love but can never get the name right. It's something like Matatiko, but as soon as I put the recipe book down it's gone. Hence my need to cut down on the ganja.

Yeh, I do that sometimes, then when the boredom starts to kill me, I start again :D

Besides, am off work tomorrow

It's less the boredom, more the uncontrollable flatulence at work that gets me. Or rather my colleagues. I hear dark mutterings about "Scotch eggs"...

Will really try not to buy more Fuller's Discovery, but it's Thursday and it's not winter and Herself is out and... and... I bloody want to. Sod the work colleagues, I'm thirsty!

Back to the thread. Changed mind - fresh pasta tonight. Bollocks to Linda McCartney and her fake pork things.

I'm going to drink a bottle of Pinot Grigio Blush that's the the fridge whilst packing for our camping weekend in Devon.

then for dinner probably a big old stir fry to use up lots of the veg in the fridge that might go off while we're away!

then maybe bake some pies and cakes to take with....

You're all having Mexican. I want Mexican.

Especially after reading about NarcoCorrido today.

tonight will probably be a bacon & pasta salad thing (lettuce from allotment  ) can't decide on a honey & mustard dressing or pesto though - minor issue really

I'm gonna make miss fran's kheema matar but with some tandoori massala added and chickpeas instead of green peas

I've got myself a one person takeaway from the supermarket. Everyone else can get fucked. They've done nothing to help, just sat on their arses since they got in. The house is a fucking shit heap and I'm not cleaning it on my own while they sit and play games and doze in their fucking armchairs.

Marmitako!

Got a frozen fish pie from the shop and I'm going to roast some onions, peppers and cherry tomatoes to go with it. Will probably have some cucumber with it too cos I've got a load of that.

tell me more about persian beef, is it a stewy thing? i'm always looking for new ways to use the lovely diced stuff from our farmers market.

It is yes - I shall try and look out the recipe. Fairly easy to make and actually tasted better today after it had time for the flavours to develop (I made it last week and froze half)

here we go :)

Persian Tangy Beef with Herb Khoresh

Serves 4

3 tbsp Olive Oil
1 Large Onion, chopped
450g lean stewing beef, cubed (I think I used casserole beef)
1 tbsp Fenugreek Leaf (I used ordinary Fenugreek Spice )
2 tsp turmeric
½ tsp cinnamon
600ml of water
25g fresh parsley chopped
25g fresh chives chopped
400g tin kidney beans
Juice of 1 lemon
Salt and Pepper

1. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a large pan or flameproof casserole, fry the onion for 3-4 mins until golden, Add the beef and fry for 10 minutes until browned on all sides
2. Add the fenugreek, turmeric and cinnamon and cook for 1 minute then add the water and bring to the boil. Cover and gently simmer for 45 mins
3. Heat the remaining oil in a fryng pan and fry the chives and parsley over a medium heat for 2-3 mins
4. Rinse and drain the kidney beans then add them to the beef with the friend herbs and lemon juice. Simmer for a further 30-35 mins until the meat is tender

Good served with rice - though we had it with chapattis - it was definitely tastier after a week in the freezer!
