What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Roast leftovers -> Bubble'n'squeak, cold lamb, ham and some baked beans on the side. A good solid Monday dinner. With added cider, to toast England battering the Aussies and taking a 3 -0 lead in the Ashes :)

I did a salmon laksa, it was WELL nice

Oooh what recipe did you use?
We had it (sea food for me and chicken for badgers) at Kennington farmers market a few years a go and it was one of the nicest things I have ever put in my gob :D
But since then I have found it difficult to find a similar sounding recipe.

Tuna niçoise. With some purple sprouting broccoli added cos an uninvited guest turned up and we had to stretch the ration of French beans.

Oh I totally cheat and use a laksa pasta. For 2 people: I use dashi broth, add very fine noodles, 2 tspns laksa paste, half a tin of coconut milk, and salmon cut into chunks. Simmer for 3 mins and it's done! So tasty.

Ok 2 questions.
What is dashi broth?
Where do you get your laksa paste?

I am witnessing cooking taken to an all time low.

Flatmate has a pan of oven chips with frozen burger on top.

There might be a brand to be born after the pan pizza, but I doubt it.

Laksa paste is from Waitrose but I've seen it in large Tescos in the "ethnic" section too. Also Asian food shops. Dashi is Japanese stock, it has a very savoury umami flavour. You can get the powder in Japanese shops. It's not necessary for a laksa though, you can just use water or chicken stock cube.

Oh and if I was making it for myself I would put Chinese greens like pak choi in too but Santino doesn't like them. Bamboo shoots too.

Haddock fillets baked in foil in the oven (probably with some lemon juice/zest and some herbs chucked in too).
Potatoes, green beans and runner beans from the garden to go with it.

Last night we had leftover curry with leftover roast pork mixed in.

Tonight is smoked mackerel, mash and roast asparagus, plus the leftover pork gravy from Sunday.
