What's for tea tonight? (#8)

No idea. Skint, so can't really afford to go and buy loads of new ingredients. Got chickpeas, toms, veg saussies, veg pies, chips, peas, pesto, eggs....but nowt is really springing to mind.

Mmmm...although...maybe a chachouka?

I'd do a veg slop with that - chickpeas, peas, tomatoes (don't know whether you mean fresh or tinned toms - tinned are the ones for a slop of course), and chuck in some chilli or something. I love doing veg slops - might dig some veg out the freezer tonight and make one so I've got some to reheat tomorrow. :)

Possibly the last meal I'll ever cook in this house - chicken casserole with garlic ciabatta.

In the casserole goes:
  • 4 chicken thighs
  • 2 carrots
  • Big pack of kale
  • Sliced onion
  • Stock pot, chili flakes, oregano and thyme, garlic
  • Mushrooms
  • Carton of chopped tomatoes
  • A handful of lentils
I will miss this flat, but not our ludicrously small kitchen.

THIS ENDED UP SO GOOD

sojourner - I've embarked on my veg slop, and the ingredients are:

1 x 390 carton of chopped toms with basil & oregano
1 x 400g tin of chopped toms
1 x 500g carton of tomato passata
450g cherry tomatoes that were languishing in the fridge
75ml olive oil
100g sweetcorn
100g peas
200g random mixed frozen veg that has lurked in the freezer since the Ice Age
Chilli
Garlic puree
Pepper and salt

It's now on the hob simmering away slowly, so the cherry toms collapse into the slop.

No idea what it will taste like, other than generally like tomatoes, and be a red colour. Will report back. :)

And I've just realised I've used about 2kg of tomatoes! Oh well, no prostate cancer for me today at any rate. :D

Nothing for me as been eating today :hmm:

Made Kitty a leaf salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, olive oil and lemon juice. Topped with chilli and coriander king prawns. Served with some feta cheese and sauce on the side.

Today I'm having a pound of Cumberland sossidges, and some tom slop later on.

Edit to add - realised I'm out of mustard, so it's going to be sweet chilli dipping sauce to go with the sossidges.

a fuck tonne of food is coming from my new favourite indian eatery, im dying of hangover. im not even sure what ive ordered  but it WILL be too much

Noodles and stir fried veg which was rescued from the salad drawer of the fridge flavoured with garlic, finer and soy and some prawns chucked in at the end.
Pudding was strawberry cheesecake cups made from other scraps of left overs including some strawberries which are still good 9 days later.

At least I hope they are ok.....

Spotted in my local shop today. Tempting. Would you?

Chinese fish soup.

Soften finely chopped onions with garlic, diced ginger and crushed pepper corns in a little olive oil. Add a crushed chili, sliced green onion, sliced carrot, finely sliced red and green peppers and simmer with salt.

Add Two pints of water and chopped coriander. Simmer for 20 minutes before adding chunks of haddock. Leave on a very low heat for an hour adding water and coriander occasionally. Serve with fresh bread and a Mexican salad.

No-one is joining me for this. Shame. €20 pot and very delicious.

I had pressed duck, rice and veg. Then I had a spicy tofu on a stick and a wrap with egg, sausage and spicy sauce. Then I had a beer and a mung bean ice lolly.

Roast pork, roast tatties, honey roast carrots, peas, yorkshire puds. Oh plus prawn cocktail and avocado to start, banana/pecan/yoghurt mix to finish!

An Italian friend brought us some cured pork belly and a shitload of parmesan back for us to enjoy. Thinking risotto but the steaks sitting in the fridge are very tempting.
