What's for tea tonight? (#8)

My daughter's at her dad's...so it was a FISH DAY  and I made a cod/king prawn pie with a crispy mash topping and loads of peas for me and my boy...and he had a choc cheesecake pot from work for pudding with added squirty cream :D (and I had two bags of crisps. )

Cauliflower cheese, Italian herb roast potatoes and something else. It was going to be broccoli as that's the only green thing in the fridge, but if I serve cauliflower and broccoli there'll be some sort of insurrection so it'll probably be an Italian bean salad or summink. Although I fancy spicy beans like ful gnoua actually and I'm the bloody cook so they'll have that.

I went for a mooch around the reduced section of Waitrose yesterday - found a giant 'serves 3' steak, red wine and mushroom pie for £3. I'll be having that with some kind of light veg or salad.

Got to sort a different tent out for Off the Tracks this weekend, as there's no way I can put up the big one on me own. So due to that, we're on chips n egg n mushy peas, giving me time to fuck about in the attic and find all the poles for me old tried and trusted tent.

I have no idea. Earlier I was thinking a takeaway pizza as I was starving and craving all sorts of food but now I have had lunch I could be persuaded into making a veg chilli & brown rice..:D

Seen the weather forecast? We're going to a small festie (no fires allowed) in the Cotswolds, going to have to sow the nippers back into their winter undies. We'll be alright, we have booze'n'rugs.

Aye, well it looks fantastic SO FAR. We'll see how it is on the actual weekend! This feeling of impending cold germs int going away though, which I'm a bit unhappy about. Don't wanna be ill for a festie

Your little uns will be fine, just don't bother getting them changed ;)

Just remembered I've also got some liver that needs eating today :hmm: Not sure about liver and pie, tbh. I could fry up the liver with mushrooms and have it on toast, maybe.

My daughter's bezzer's over for dinner so I'm doing the safe option of chicken fillet burgers and chips for them and me and my boy are going to have herring milts on hot french bread (although I forgot to put anchovies on my order to do them in anchovy butter like I did last time  :( ). Cornettos for pudding for them and a cream doughnut with a cup of tea for me

Oooh and moonsi til ...I have some of those new crisps you posted about coming, too! :D  :D 5 multipacks, tbf! 1 s&v 2 c&o and 2 bacon....so no doubt I'll have to try a bag of each of those, too ;-)

Yep, they'll have so many layers on they won't be able to move :)

sheothebudworths one pack LOL...you will have 2 at least!!

They didn't have any of the cheese and onion ones in the 5x25g multipacks (which I'd ordered 2 of)...so they've replaced those with 10 individual 125g packs (for £1.58 for the lot  ), so in total, I now have over 1.5 KILO'S of the things, lol!!!   :D

Further *shopping delivery excitement* was that I forgot that I'd ordered a dressed crab as a treat to myself (cos I fucking well DESERVE IT!  :p ), so I put the milts in the freezer and had the whole crab to myself on a hot baguette with mayo, cucumber and cress and my son (who's not that keen on crab, oddly enough, cos he loves everything else seafood/fish related  ) had the same as the girls.

had a deli-made salad with boiled egg, lettuce, cucumber, beetroot, coleslaw, chicken breast and peppers. For dessert 1/4 catalupe melon with blueberries and custard, with a mug of lemon and ginger tea

Free for all, so mine's chicken soup with a handful of salad added, plus some of the cauliflower which wasn't cooked last night.

I'm sure you're all eager to know how the situation with my dinner ended up....housemate is cooking for me as I've done the last few dinners. Sliced chorizo, mushrooms, butter, garlic, thinly sliced livers, mustard and Worcester sauced all cooked together, served on thickly sliced bread and butter :cool:

Danish pastries for afters (also from the Waitrose reduced section - 7ish seems to be the time to hit there!)

I did a massive cook up this after noon and the toddler took the opportunity to take advantage of my diverted attention to remove her nappy and run amock- mainly trying to unlock the back gate using my work keys through the knot holes in the wood.

anyway, we had greeklamb and orzo stew with crusty white rolls and green beans.
Orange and honey roast rhubarb for pudding if I can keep my eyes open.

The freezer is stocked with a lasagne, some bolognese and chilli con carne now too.

Market day today and the fish monger had sum Arbroath smokeys so i got one. not sure what im gonna do wiv it like coz a cant be arsed faffin about tonite, so al probly just warm it under grill an pick away at it wiv a fork

Veggie chilli tonight :)

Got to finish packing, which won't take very long, so will open wine, do that, cook, drink, eat, collapse

Meatballs beotch yeah

Might add some finely chopped onions, garlic and herbs and a good few dashes of hot pepper sauce into the mix as I've only got beef mince rather than beef/pork and I don't want them to be too burgery :)

Brown baguette plus a pair of marked down packets - a green salad with sweet chilli dressing, and chicken breast fillets with asparagus wrapped together with mozzarella and streaky bacon.
