What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Root veg soup, on a freezer clearing mission so I can fill it with nicer things in the next few months :)

I am on a fridge clearing mission today :)

Spinach, carrots, leeks, onions (lots), a large tomato, broccoli, cauliflower (blurgh) and one big frankfurter need to be used quick.

Piri-piri marinaded spatchcock chicken. Which makes me sound like I'm a great cook and all that but it's just a thing you buy from the Co-op and bung in the oven. No idea what I'm having with it as I need to go shopping. Crisps, possibly.

My butcher had pretty substantial boiling bacon joints on offer for three quid, which seemed like a steal to me so I got one. I've been eating it all weekend, hot with cabbage and potatoes, cold with pickles and salady stuff, made a quiche and some pea and ham soup with it - both of which are now in the freezer - and there's still enough left for today's dinner and tea and for a butty for work tomorrow.
What a bloody bargain!
If he's got any more of those tomorrow for that price I might have to go and stock up.

Changed my mind. Froze the cauliflower and broccoli. Grated and frozen the carrots. Cut and frozen the leeks.

Pieminister pies (Heidi Pie for me, Pietanic for him) with roast spuds, broccoli and carrot.
I hope you are collecting tokens to send to wolfie, who has been trying to get enough tokens for an apron :) It's not as if I haven't been sending out begging messages for months now

I don't think they have tokens on :hmm:

Veggie roast (quorn roast), roast spuds, broccoli, carrots, yorkies and gravy. Followed by chocolate fudge cake & ice-cream.

*stuffed*

Either pasta with red pesto and spinach or brown rice boiled in stock with onion, spices and chopped up bratwurst but it maybe toast and pate as I am extra lethargic today :(

Baked potatoes, soy sauce, tahini, mango chutney.
Bag of crunchy salad.
St Emilion.

... and the remains of the half-price raspberry ripple cheesecake from yesterday.

Pieminster pies give me a stomach ache. Which is a shame as they do taste nice. Not sure why. Maybe I should try different kinds.
