What's for tea tonight? (#8)

More fish fingers, probably with chips. Maybe cheese on toast if I have some chips for lunch. Hurry the fuck up student loan.

I made spag bol yesterday. It's sitting in the fridge, flavours maturing, so very much looking forward to it again tonight :)

I can tell I've got a cold. I somehow amalgamated these two posts in my head and was thinking why the fuck would anyone leave fishfingers in the fridge to let the flavours mature :facepalm::D

Anyway, I'm out for boozes later so it'll probably be chips or a pasty (take that Government :D) at the station on my way home.

Haha. :D :D I imagine leaving fish fingers to mature would be less than desirable. :D

I have no idea. I need some inspiration.

It's grim out there, something to warm the cockles, comfort eating style. The root vegetable and pearl barley stew I did last night was perfect, looking forward to the leftovers for lunch - just veg, stock, pearl barley and marmite with some good bread.

Risotto.
Paella.
Chilli & rice.
Macaroni cheese.

What do you have available?
Not that much

Hmmm...cheers ringo. I like your thinking. I might go with a veggie chilli actually - with quorn mince cos I haven't got any beans on the soak. Will have to buy a tin of kidney beans but that's okay. Yehhh...nice hot chilli, with rice, some sour cream, pickled jalapenos on the side

Brilliant - cheers ears

Vegetable samosas, nurnbergers, cauliflower, and possibly lemon & coriander couscous unless I think of something else in the next hour or so.

Very exciting here at the moment. I made soda bread earlier, for the first time, and we had it warm with smoked red leicester, it is so gorgeous and easy to make.

For tea we're having cheese souffle and chili chicken one pot with cheesecake for desert. Everything cooked/made right here, we're both a bit tipsy  with appreciative appetities (weed helps), so as I say, very exciting, and very very delicious.

Asparagus & emmental flan, new potatoes and peas. I thought the flan wasn't going to set and the asparagus is a bit woody but it's ok apart from that.

Chicken breast with some Batchelors savoury rice and liberal splashings of Nando's sauce all over it. Hot!

The fabulous wife bought us chippy tea. Fish chips and mushy peas and a massive bottle of diet coke to keep me going as I pootle away on dissertation through the night. :)

Poached egg on a bed of spinach, on toast. Amazing how the addition of spinach and different cooking method elevated the humble fried egg sandwich to a whole new level :D

Last night was an oven baked risotto with smoked bacon and cherry toms, very nice it was too.

Today it's roast chicken, roast potatoes, veg n gravy.
Pudding will be whatever the bloke picks up from the shop (I'm hoping it's going to be something we can have custard with)

Last night was macaroni cheese.

Big lunch with friends so tea is shop bought coq au vin with some braised green lentils.

I am making sushi, hoping that it's not going to be a complete disaster!

Edit to update: I made maki sushi, it looked pretty damn professional for a first attempt! The only fault was that I wasn't perfectly exact when slicing, so some portions were a mm wider than others. I was worried that it might be difficult without a rolling mat because all the sites I looked at say it is a must have piece of equipment, but I just used a slightly damp (clean, obviously!) tea towel and it was fine. I was pleased enough with the result to reach for my camera so I could show off, but the batteries were dead - I will make sure they are charged before my next go!
