What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Pasta with asparagus, peas, lemon and herby cream cheese. I really must have the pineapple which has been languishing on the windowsill for nearly a month too...

Am going to make some leek and potato soup in a bit. The wife wants it chunky so I can't try out the stand up blender thing I got for crimbo. :< Should be tasty though. :)

We were supposed to be having chicken and chorizo with new potatoes and peppers but the chicken legs are still bloody frozen.

So now we're having lazy freezer dinner of kiev, chips and beans.

Cooked my first ever eggs that I can remember - in 52 years !
Not sure how long before I go back to being fully vegan ...

Poached a couple of free-range eggs in clingfilm bags - very tasty indeed. :)

In the end I have taken 2 burnt crusty cobs with thick cheddar cheese and chunky red onion rings. My BF found a lil place doing these cobs so I shall assume they will become a regular feature.

The cobs are like the Mortons rolls you get in Glasgow...

I made a huge batch of tomato & chilli sauce for the freezer yesterday, so we had some of that with some pasta - very spicy, a good batch!

if I can be bothered to go to the shops, it will be mexican spicy bean burgers with sweet potato wedges and salad... YUM.

If not, it will be some kind of stir-fry with noodles, or roast veg with couscous.

just wrap em in cling film and dip em in water. i find it's a bit messy though
And add a drop of oil as a release agent.... I'd picked the first "bag" up, before I remembered I would need something to hold them above water - so I had to carry it out to the hall where I'd seen a small coil of galvanised wire earlier ...

Damn. Why do they have to taste so nice ? :(

Got a delivery from the local Chinese place - roast pork in chilli & black bean sauce with Singapore rice.

Tonight will be the usual Wednesday night business.

Chicken/creamed corn/potato soup with grated cheddar.

And I've just taken a lump of orange and almond cake out of the freezer for pudding.

Lamb shanks with lashings of gravy, mash, carrots and cabbage with lashings of butter & pepper. We've just had hail/snow and wanted something hearty :)

just wrap em in cling film and dip em in water. i find it's a bit messy though

I saw some tv chef (Heston maybe) make them this way. He loosely placed some cling film over a cup, dropped the egg in and twisted shut. He made it look very quick and simple (they mentioned being able to add herbs too) I keep meaning to try it as I'm crap at poaching eggs and usually leave it to my gf.

My first ever quasi-conventional fry-up - fried spud, mushrooms, tomato, beans and two fried eggs ...

A tad heavy for the middle of the week... :p
