What's for tea tonight? (#8)

dear god it was broccoli in a sandwich that started my  about the way folk use broccoli. So no I couldn't contemplate such a sandwich.

I've put broccoli in a cheese toastie before. nom.

Tonight is looking like pork chops - probably with sage and maybe stilton. Some sort of potato accompaniment and I'll chuck on some veg. maybe.

Finally had sausage pasta last night. made with very nice italian sausage from some italian shop.

Dunno. Chemistry does the shopping. I think up top of York Way near Kris Wines - although Brecknock road is possible.

Ah I see. There's one on St Paul's Road that I must check out sometime. Thought it may have been that one. But then again, it's more than 200 meters away from your bubble :p

i used to live on brecknock road *gets weepy with nostalgia*

i still have no idea what to do with my courgettes so i think ill ribbon them and fry a little and have them with prawns, garlic and wholewheat spaghetti

i have some iranian soup for lunch (called Ash but with a squiggle over the A.)

As the fucking temperature is something like -6 round our way (it is BITTER out!!), I am going to make a mahoosive amount of Egyptian lentil soup, which we will have laden with croutons, AND with a fuck-off big sesame baTONNNNNN

My son's day to cook and we're doing chicken in tarragon sauce, oven chips and sugar snaps.
They've got creme caramels and cream for pudding and I've got a low fat raspberry compote/mousse thing.

I love this idea sheo, it's something I intend to do in the future. What age was he when you started this?

Only in the last year or so, tbh (later than I should've!) and he's 12 now  although my daughter has a day, too and she's 6.
In theory they should be able to decide what they would like to cook and then do it (with me *helping* obv ;) ) but in practice it's more like me asking what they would like to cook out of *a few named ideas* cos otherwise there's just bafflement 'I dunno!?  ' :D

It's actually quite hard for me to implement when their dad's here because they're staying between the two of us and when they're here they're generally having to do all the violin practice/homework etc that they don't do when they're there   but he's away for three months atm so we have a weekly planner   :D with a set day (and on days when they don't have any other 'jobs' on) so it's much easier to fit it in.
I just REALLY don't want my son to leave home not having a clue how to cook, iykwim  :D
I do have to try very hard not to end up being a complete control freak though, lol

lol, I'm with you on the control freak thing sheo (it's my kitchen goddamit ).
My boy is 8 so I should be able to start fairly soon, but the main thing that's stopping me at the moment is the fact that he is too small to reach the cooker properly :D

I can be annoying in the kitchen. It really bugs me when people don't chop/slice things properly.

"But it won't cook evenly!!!"

:D
