What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Our roast embargo has now started Saffy.
Today's effort was the last roast until Christmas day

I've done a couple of dry runs (tonight's included) - only 2 hobs on my cooker work and I'm cooking for 4 on the day (fingers crossed, COVID/Omicron/health obv. are issues), so making sure I can get all the sides done efficiently on those hobs is important - it's one of the reasons I'm roasting carrots/making cauli/broc cheese etc because they can all be prepped in advance and all finish off in the oven and I have 2 ovens - if I am just doing sprouts and gravy on the hob at the end then I've won.

After tonight I am going to try to resist the urge to have a roast until Xmas day - may not happen, I do love roast dinners and may crack.

Fuckign hell, the lasagne pie was dreadful. Massive fail from Icelands.

Sounds rank, they also do Cottage Pie Pies (in pastry with mash topping) and Chicken Kiev pies - I haven't dared to try any of them tbh.

3 of my local supermarkets are all branches of Iceland, IMO they have really gone downhill in the last couple of years - they used to be good for fairly decent value frozen food and basic veg/groceries but a lot of their decent stuff has either been discontinued, shunted into a higher price bracket range/replaced with branded stuff like TGI Friday range etc, or the quality has hit rock bottom.

It's annoying as it is my closest supermarket, but I've about had it with them tbh.

Because of various head stuff related reasons, i can't cook beyond a basic meal. Unless the box tells me specifically what to do then I leave it. Iceland used to be alright for me, I could rely upon their food but for similar reasons to you, I'm using them less and less now.

Cauldron Lincolnshire saussies fried with red onion, buttery mashed spuds, carrots, peas, onion gravy.

Chocolate choc chip muffin lathered in rose buttercream icing and a decaff tea.
^ gonna be having these for pudding all week. You only need one (well, I MAKE myself only have one, I'd happily gorge two and beach myself on the couch :D) and I made 12 between us.

This was unpleasantly hot. It didn’t taste of much but burnt my tongue. Mr Looby said his was fine so that’s weird.
I had some ryvita and cream cheese instead.

I hope you've not started losing your sense of taste/smell - which would account for it being hot but not much flavour (which is something I have never associated with Thai curries, they are usually very flavourful!) Can you taste other things ok?

Yeah I think so. My Pepsi max tastes alright and so did my lunch. That was my first though.
I think maybe the heat kind of distracted from the taste.
