What's for tea tonight? (#8)

:D

I'm quite looking forward to me home-made pesto now

Got some scones for afters too. There'd best be some jam left int fridge :hmm:

Been toying with the idea of getting a food processor in order to do stuff like pestos etc, but not sure I'd use it enough to justify the cost. God, I love kitchen ware.

get a hand blender for things like pestos, pastes etc. they're cheaper, smaller and i'm always using mine to make pastes for curries and whatnot.

You got a pestle and mortar?

Yup

Am gonna chop the basil and garlic with me new knife, and do the nuts int P&M

Or something like that anyway. I'm not getting a hand-held cos I can't justify buying one, and if I'm gonna have kitchen porn, I'm having XXX and not some pissy little blender

Whatever it is, the seasoning's going to be all over the place as I can't smell a bloomin' thing today.

shut it you snob... £5 tesco hand blender has lasted me years :p

By the time our cheap(ish) handblender had burnt out after about four years of heavy use, there'd been enough time to save up for a more powerful model. Not state of the art, but approx 700W, more than good enough for what it's for.

And - back to the thread's subject.

Chicken in black bean sauce, deep fried chilli chicken, spare ribs, sesame prawn toast, seaweed, crispy aromatic duck and egg fried rice. Not in that order.

Orecchiette with fat italian (fennel) sausages, skinned and cooked with mustard and cream. Just realised, typing that, that I could do with some wine too. Ah well, I hardly live in the wild. Loosely based on a Nigel Slater recipe iirc.

Sounds nice. We've got another empty-the-freezer tea... sausages, cauli cheese, gravy, with baked spuds (which weren't in the freezer). I'll probably only have a sausage and half a spud, but means I have a sausage for lunch tomorrow

I was the same until I got one, now I use it for soups, making breadcrumbs, pastes for curries, or even just chopping stuff finely and quickly. It's great.

Lush

That reminds me - I've got some frozen sausages in the freezer which I may do on Friday:)

Roasted chunks of butternut squash and potato with garlic, simmered with some lentils, chopped tomatos and spinach. Lush.

My bezzer's coming round to dye my hair, so I think I'm just going to do a quick dinner later - scrambled eggs on toast or summink.
Took three more of the lemon muffins back out of the freezer, seeing as how we still have some of the cream left to use up! :D

Shoulder of lamb, roasted on a bed of beetroot, carrots, onions, garlic and new potatoes :)

Yum, can I come for tea?
Is it your own lamb?

If you say no then I'll have to eat the lamb curry I got out of the freezer this morning.
I'll do some rice and perhaps a mushroom side dish to go with it seeing as the small mushroom hating boy will not be eating with us tonight.
