What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Just me tonight, so it will here's one I've prepared early from the freezer.

Getting the pressure cooker out to make a chilli base. Don't know if anyone else does this? Years ago someone showed me that if you added a small tin of refried beans to a chilli it takes to the next level, but they are expensive and I've come up with something better. A load of black eyed beans cooked with tomato, cumin seeds, stock, garlic and onions and Worcestershire sauce. I'm doing a big veggie chilli for her tomorrow tonight, so it will be ready for that, but also have a few portions in the freezer for when I make one my silly hot beef ones.

I knew I was going to be hungover and yesterday bought everything needed for a roast. 👍 There’s a ridiculous amount of food. Roast beef, Yorkshires, stuffing, broccoli, carrots, baked onions and potatoes and shitloads of gravy and mustard. Can’t wait.

There are also raspberry tarts from v day if we have room. 😊

I make my own refried beans - and freeze them in batches at the point where I have mashed them and got them to the right consistency - works out a lot cheaper than buying tins and a whole lot nicer - I usually serve them on the side after frying in butter, but they would work well in a chilli

They are lovely aren't they. I also make them, but this is tweaked slightly to be a great chilli base. Although now you've mentioned it I'll have to see if I've got any Pinto beans and make a batch tomorrow. Would be nice to serve along side the chilli and I've got a stupid amount of garlic to use up. :)

I just buy a tin of own brand refried beans :D Always put them in a 3 bean chilli, not the same without.

Anyhoo, I'm gonna make a vast pot of leek and potato soup tonight, with plenty of good salted butter in it, and have with garrrrrlic bread.

Small portion of the cheesecake left, so that, and eating up the leftover choccy.

Off out to drum class, so quick tea of veggie soup (made Sunday) and garlic bread.

Belgian choc cake and a decaff tea for afters.
