What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Excellent choice, Thimble Queen xx What's German McDonald's like??

I'm making an effort with the man tonight as we've got into a screen rut. So we're having a proper sit down dinner: okra, spinach and black eyed beans in a kind of Jamaican curry sauce (onions, garlic, ginger, bay, thyme, scotch bonnet and Mr Brown's seasoning) with rice. And wine.

Chicken casserole. The bairns had theirs with mash, we rather bizarrely had quinoa. It was very nice. Apple muffins for pudding.

Basic menu is the same but they tend to ja e a lot of special burgers and sides. Don't know if that's a normal thing in McD's these days though.

Not feeling it today so just had some plain rice with a few mushrooms and a little bit of soy on top.

Shame they only have one veggie option per day. Saturday was an aubergine dish which my eldest wouldn't have eaten if she was with us, so it can't really become a new family celebration venue.
As an attempting-to-be veggie with whom both aubergines and eggs disagree quite badly, I feel her/your pain. There are quite a few places where it's just not worth the bother of my attempting to eat, because the only veggie options involve one or the other. See also: breakfasts.

Teawise I had a single oatcake. Or a large helping of apple crumble and custard, if pre-bike-commute snack in the office counts as tea.

I found that over the years when I was a veggie it got better all the time, so now its a bit of a shock to go somewhere nice and see vegetarians pretty much dismissed. We're not in France you know! :D
It was a speciality fish restaurant though, the clue was in the name, so I guess you have to accept it. Shame though, I loved it there. We'll be sneaking back when the littlun is out.

ETA: Aubergines though. Yuk.

Getting cooked for tonight, probably penne all'arrabiata.

pasta bake with homemade tomato sauce, roasted peppers, red onion, mushrooms with mozzarella cheese & topped with tomatoes. Will have a green salad too. Same again for tomorrow.

I made a cauli cheese for first time in years yesterday but I didn't have any as I'm not a fan! x

It's the fella's birthday, so I'm cooking his all-time favourite - melanzane parmiggiana

(with eternal thanks to moose ):cool::cool:

If you can be arsed, please do share how you make it :) I go a bit funny about aubergine, like cats with olives or something. But I haven't ever found a really great parmiggiana recipe.

Tonight: runner beans with garlic and chilli. Wine.

A sausage sandwich and a green tea in local cafe, then 2nd tea was a pint of blackcurrant and lemonade in a pub. We were going to have steak but we were tired so got a microwave meal of braised steak and mash.
