What's for tea tonight? (#8)

I finally broke out my full size wok - abandoned for the smaller one many years ago because my gas hob was so under-powered, and it works really well on the induction hob even though it has a round bottom.
It means I don't keep dropping bits on the floor and there's more hot surface to work with so I'm pretty sure the onion, broccoli and mushrooms cooked even more quickly than before :)

And much less smoke and burned bits.

Wok burner needed?

Fuker LOL

One day perhaps ...

Actually my type of cooking doesn't need the heat and controllability.
I'm moving to a country which has little mains gas and abundant electricity, so perhaps I will re-engineer the driver coil of one of my hobs ...

Ate out last night.

Asparagus with salted onion rings
Quinoa falafel with beetroot
Beer battered halloumi & triple cooked chips.

Macerated cherries.
Poached pears.

Not sure today thinking something with roast potatoes or maybe pasta bake.

I did a massive load of cooking yesterday so that dinners in the week will be quicker - pea and ham soup, a puy lentil/carrot/onion stock base and a swede/potato mash top (to make a cottage pie type thing with some of the pork which will be left over from today) and cauli cheese and partially made roasties for today, plus a banana, walnut and dark/milk/white chocolate chip cake.

So yesterday was a freezer tea :D - a chicken and asparagus pie, chips and broccoli - and some of the cake for pudding.

Today is a slow roast hickory barbecue pork shoulder - which has been brining for two days and had a paprika/thyme/brown sugar/mustard powder/cayenne/garlic salt/cumin seed/allspice/black pepper rub put on before going in and a splosh of liquid smoke poured over the top - with the roasties, cauli cheese and broccoli and then a magic banana and strawberry thick shake for pudding.

Mr Looby is making cottage pie with peas and roasted carrots.
I'm craving spicy food like a chilli or a curry. I'm on a fairly bland diet at the moment so it'll have to wait a couple of week.

Not sure about our tea tonight. OH has been lots of teas to help me out as I've been a bit low... I really should return the favour. I'd like to cook something tasty and simple. Any suggestions?

Last night was at awards ting...went for the veggie option - starter of really nice soft melon and main of mushroom volauvent in creamy tarragon sauce...cousin gave me her 'millionare potatoes' - weirdest thing of all...got a 'veggie' dessert of sorbets instead of the other's cheesecake and little chocolate tart...I was okay with it, was very nice. Not enough though, had noodles when i got home!

Today have beef bourbignan in oven, while watching All Ireland final (Dublin- Mayo) GAA football. I'm not even that into Gaelic games but great fun sometimes at Croke Park. I'm at home.. Up the Dubs!

Saturday we went out for lunch at Fish! in Borough market. Expensive but one of the best meals I've had in years. Even the tiddler's posh fish fingers and chips were incredible. Shame they only have one veggie option per day. Saturday was an aubergine dish which my eldest wouldn't have eaten if she was with us, so it can't really become a new family celebration venue. Could only manage a grated cheese and Branston pickle sandwich for tea.

Sunday had roast chicken in the pub.

Tonight is leftover Indian - onion bhaji, kabuli khana chicken, tarka dal and peas fried rice.
