What's for tea tonight? (#8)

What's up with your arm ringo?
I hurt my neck/shoulder in the gym a few months ago and then kept doing it so it got worse until I've ended up with a trapped nerve and some sort of muscle/joint injury. Very painful with pins and needles, but fortunately getting some good help from felixthecat via nobbing & sobbing to sort it out before my holiday starts at 4pm today so that I can enjoy a much needed break.

Four weeks off in one go, because I had so much bereavement leave I didn't have the time/inclination to take any holiday this year. Celebrating with a massive curry tonight

Four weeks?! :eek::eek::thumbs:
Enjoy! (and I hope the shoulder is sorted soon)

Tonight we've having spicy sausages from the local butcher with roasted new potatoes and whatever green veg needs using up.

I have end of term-itis, along with the traditional pre-summer holiday kicking offs we always have when it's literally got too hot in the kitchen :D so we've been on shit dinners for the last couple of weeks
Only Monday and Tuesday to go now though (although I'm officially starting my new weekly volunteering job on Thursday, which is slightly nerve-wracking :hmm: ) and I swapped my day off this week to today, so I have a nice long weekend first - so I'm already starting to feel a little bit less knackered and reckon I might actually manage to cook some proper stuff again
Today is the usual Friday business though - nice rolls, crab pate, ham, mashed avocado, mini pork pies, duck sushi and crisps - and I've just made a massive bowl of kachumber, too  to use some of the THREE bunches of spring onions my Tesco delivery contained (partially down to my own fuck up and partially down to a weird sub they made).

My daughter has two inset days on Mon/Tues so has officially finished for the year (and my son broke up from college a week ago  ) so I bought this for pudding to celebrate...

It looks fucking gross to me, tbf :D but I knew SHE'D love it...and indeed, when I showed her the pot, she looked at me very earnestly and said 'Omg, I love you SO much.' :D

And I'll still TRY it, obvs :p

Having cubed sweet potato roasted with cherry toms, feta cheese, red onion, spring onion & black beans plus a dressing that I can't recall. Made this just once before and recall it being lush.

That sounds lovely. Does it all get roasted at once or thrown in at stages?

I was going to do a bbq - jerk chicken and veggie kebabs - and some garlic flatbread and salad to go with it, but it's going to rain later and the chicken is the same chicken that I only put in the freezer two days after I'd bought it and marinaded it after I had to cancel the LAST bbq  so I think I best not risk leaving it until tomorrow now that it's defrosted. :(
So I'll prob not bother with the veggie kebabs and do the chicken in the oven instead...meh.

One of these days I may actually manage to have a fucking bbq

Went to local cafe with pal and had garlic sausage paninis, salad, chips and a cappuccino. Then we went to another cafe and had hot chocolate with cream. Then on to the co op where i bought 4 mars bars and 4 cupcakes. Perfect for this crappy weather.

Hello thread, for some reason I've always scrolled past this in the new posts list, strange because I love reading about food. I've just read the last five pages and have had to have some toast as I'm now starving!

Tonight the children had pasta and pesto and separate bowls of red pepper, sweet corn and chickpeas because they won't eat them if they're touching.

We had romanesco ripassi, which is romanesco broccoli/cauliflower parboiled then fried/stewed with garlic and chilli and served with penne cooked in the broccoli water, and weird vegan pasta cheese (nutritional yeast).

Last of the BBQ chicken wings (part of three packs for £7 deal). A pack of wholegrain rice with cherry tomatoes and chilli oil.

Got a couple of eggs that need using today so will boil them so they're ready for breakfast tomorrow.

Veggie bolognaise with veggie mince, LOADSA mushrooms (in a Harry Enfield voice) and some courgette that needed using up with big pasta. Can't decide whether to have cheddar or parmesan on top. Maybe both
