What's for tea tonight? (#8)

No takeaway? Hope you feel better soon at any rate.

I was out of packets of flavoured rice, so I ate bean feast! Bought it a few months ago, but don't think I've eaten it for at least 15 years. Anyway with veg and spices added it went alright with pasta. I'm working underground again tomorrow though so see how that goes. :hmm:

Havent had it for years myself but from my recollection Beanfeast is alright!

Got cooked for! wild salmon fried in butter with crispy skin, new potatoes, avocado, profiteroles, and a tank of white wine.

Roast chicken

Perfect weather for it :D

On Friday had a Chinese takeaway in the end. Satay chicken, crispy shredded beef, chicken with ginger and spring onions and egg fried rice.

Yesterday was lasagne and garlic bread round the in laws :)

Today is the pulled pork we should have had on Friday. Will be served with asparagus and kohlrabi coleslaw in sourdough baps

I was supposed to be doing a bbq today, on our brand new fancy bbq, eaten at our new patio set - but I had a text from my landlord this morning saying they need to chop half the balcony off tomorrow (cos while they were doing the work to fix the fucking collapsed ceiling, which took them 18 months to finish and left us with all sorts of stress, they also extended it, without permission, cos they're dickheads and then my cunt neighbour next door complained to the council, cos she's a dickhead, too).
I'd heard nothing back re the balcony for months, so finally decided THIS WEEK to start making use of the *new* end  - bought all the stuff, ordered an outdoor screen, too, so that cunt neighbour would feel better about us being *that bit closer to her* (it's a semi and there's already an alley way and a whole extra balcony widths worth of space between us anyway  ) and spent the week building flatpacks, so TODAY, instead of enjoying it for the first time - cos it's finally got sunny again - I've spent the day trawling backwards and forwards moving it all back into the living room again, lol.

Tbf, it'll still be bigger than the original balcony :p and I'll just about fit everything in - but I'm not sure now if the screen will fit on the new end and now we're just all crammed in next to my NICE neighbour instead, where our houses are actually joined. Meh, proper FWP's tbf.

ANYWAY, I stuck the jerk chicken in the freezer while I was still sulking  :D but have had the massive pork shoulder in the oven on low all day. It looks like it's going to be well nice but it's still not a BBQ (and I didn't get to use the hickory woodchips I bought - hopefully NEXT weekend D)!
Potato salad in mustard/mayo/yoghurt and KACHUMBER to go with it Thimble Queen

I'm going to a birthday drinks which has now turned into a picnic which means I have to come up with some food. In theory I like picnics but in practice either you spend half the day cooking or you slog down to the shops and turn up with some crap supermarket hummus and a baguette and feel like a failure.

I've got some spuds on the boil anyway for spud salad. Have other salad stuff in so will do a selection of salads which no-one else will eat because they never do.

Summer is quite stressful, isn't it? :D

I hope it was zingy af mate x

My son had uninvited his bezzer after I told him the bbq was off (wrong end of the stick  ) but I told him to reinvite him and he's just turned up. :)
He's not mad keen on *hot* food, but luckily, I was five minutes away from doing the dressing when he arrived, so I didn't put as many chilli flakes in as I would've but I still put SOME in! :p ;)
Had just enough malt vinegar left in the huge bottle, too

Girl requested 'camping soup' - delicious gingery, garlicky, make-your-nose-runny, lentil soup with big chunks of carrot and potato that we had camping in may. Not only was it delish but I think for her (both of us actually) it is tied up with good memories. Camping with a load of brilliant urbs and their kids/dogs. Hunger from a long (for little legs) and exciting walk in the sun. Music, dancing and the best company. In a bowl. Who am I to say no?

Eta: Now I want to be in a field *cries*

Late tea tonight. Met up with an old pal and we chatted till 7 then realised i was starving so bought 2 tins of ravioli and a mars bar.
