What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Have been craving Shepherd's pie all week due to posts on here so am having that with some lentils in it to bulk it out  Will be served with baked beans.

I intended to serve my shepherd's pie with peas, but we'd run out so I did baked beans instead.
The bloke was proper chuffed :D

Tonight he had the leftovers, the boy had pizza and I had a chicken & mushroom low cal thing.

Lamb burgers in brioche buns with french fries.
Might roast a bit of asparagus to go with it too.

Not sure what to put on the lamb burgers.
Cheese seems wrong :hmm:, but a burger with no cheese seems even wronger
They're spicy burgers flavoured with ginger, chilli etc. which is further compounding my cheese dilemma.

Seems a bit messy for the oven :hmm:

I thought that :hmm: but then realised you could just put a tray underneath  - although that'd be double the washing up and I bet it's a fucker washing those nets, too!
*Restaurant-style crispiness for all you frozen favourites* though! :D

I know what you mean :hmm: - I don't have cheese with a lamb burger either :hmm:
I was going to say you could stick some feta in, but that'd go with the chilli but not so much with the ginger :hmm:

Also, on the beans with shepherds pie issue - I always have ketchup with cottage pie  but not with shepherds pie :hmm: and I'm not really sure why! :hmm:

Anyway...fast day yesterday was lentil and bacon soup and the kids had cheese on toast, too.

It's my mum's birthday today, so continuing the tradition my daughter suggested after she died, we are having scones with jam and clotted cream <3 :)

For firsts, we have tiger bread rolls, ham, crevettes, crab pate - cress, baby plum tomatoes, cucumber and mayo to go with those - savoury mini eggs (those scotch egg/egg/mayo things - also requested by my daughter :D ), some Tesco sushi (which I pretty much lived on while I was clearing her flat!) and some Hula hoops.

Wine first, for me!

Wholemeal fusilli and garlic bread with a sauce I made from roasted peppers, garlic, onion, can of tomatoes, olive oil and cream. Garnished with parmesan and fresh parsley.

I've had a massive shoulder of pork with a spice rub cooking very low overnight to do pulled pork later
My son has his bezzer staying over tonight - and may well have more of them round too - so for the four of us there'll be pulled pork in rolls with mustard/mayo/cucumber/cress, corn on the cob, coleslaw and baby tomatoes with S&P but there's also a load more rolls in case anyone else wants some and I'll freeze anything that's left.

Dunno about pudding :hmm: - apart from the scones, I don't remember ordering anything very puddingy with yesterdays shop!
