What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Leek and wild garlic fritters, home made oven chips, some sort of side veg.

Sneaky chocolate puddings once the kids are in bed.

This was okay, although as always when I make fritters they were a bit doughy and floury. Sadly the whole thing was ruined by a massive wave of nausea that came out of nowhere :( Still feeling like I might vom.

Last night was leftover chicken risotto but it looked a bit stodgy and unappealing so I baked a camembert covered in fresh thyme, chilli flakes and pureed garlic and had that on top with crusty bread. So heavy it needed a bottle of wine to get it down.

Tonight will be quick microwaved pasta meals all round before the babysitter arrives so that we can go out early.

If that's all that's required, and you're sick, then can't he do it?
Yeah he can but he's been running round after me all week and I'd quite like to eat before 8. I just have to chop some peppers and shove it all in the oven but I'll see how I feel in a bit.

Really nice tapas yesterday at a great spot in Gran Canaria. The restaurant was nothing fancy with about 14 tables and I had to book four days in advance. But I quickly understood as it's one of these magical places where the prices are very reasonable and the staff love what they do (so did I). excuse my bad camera phone

Baked goats cheese crusted with almonds, honey and caramelised onion

Mini chorizos stewed in cider (I know what they look like.....). Best chorizo I have ever tasted, very tender with delicious dipping oil

Native black Canarian potatoes with red and green mojo sauces. They look a bit bullety but were very soft with a lovely smokey flavour. The sauces were freshly made

The special - crispy pork belly with creamy potato and apple sauce

Cod and potato croquettes with lime

Black pudding with quail eggs and piquillo pepper marmelade

Enjoyed these with really cold, pear-flavoured white wine. Dessert was sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce (had already tucked in!). All this was €58 which I think is good value for top quality tapas, glass of wine and dessert for two people :)

Hope you're feeling better today May Kasahara

Pizza for us! Wiiiine first, but definitely definitely no rum for afters. Lesson learned.

Cheers - still feeling queasy on and off but not like last night. Think it's a weird pre-period hormone rush thing, I've had it before and it usually means I'm about to have a real iron-rimmed bastard of a special lady's time

We're having pizza too - cheese and tomato for the kids, salami, courgette, red pepper and shallot for us.

Spanish chicken out of a jar. Mr Looby won't be home until 7 so I think I'm expected to prepare the chicken and open the fucking jar. I'm sick, it feels beyond me. [emoji1]

Looby's tea :hmm:

Last night was hot dogs - son had a couple of mates round so they padded theirs out with oven chips and me and the girl filled up on crisps and Ripples. I made a half arsed effort to celebrate the end of term with some wine but I was too knackered to put much into it in the end :D
Daughter's gone to stay the night at her friend's so I had planned that we'd have a fish night  but son's not-gf is staying over...and she's not that keen on fish :D :D :D  :D so they're going to sort themselves out with a Tesco finest meal - which was meant to be steak, but they did a weird thing with the dates online and it wouldn't let me order them  so I'd had to change it to a chicken in white wine sauce thing and then they didn't have that in  so think they've ended up with a chicken in red wine thing, which they'll be having with chips :hmm: I'm going to make him do them some veg, too :p

I'm probably going to have the same thing I had for brunch - a toasted red onion and chive bagel with cream cheese, smoked mackerel, cress and beetroot  and probs more crisps and another Ripple for pudding

Refused to shop or cook after a hideous week, so went to Pizza Express. The fuckers have taken Melanzane Parmigiana off the menu.
