What's for tea tonight? (#8)

Chilli con carne for me tonight. Got home from the shops and realised I'd forgotten to buy any onions so I bunged one of those trays of Mediterranean roasting vegetables in instead. It's got onions in it. That was the thinking. Plus courgettes and other stuff I wouldn't really think of as chilli material tbh. All seems good though. Smells great.

I HATE it when you go to make something and you've run out of onions  I try and always keep a stock in but every now and again the fuckers deplete themselves

Yeah I think pretty much everything I can cook is based on them. I walked right past a massive bag for 2 quid in Lidl, too.

''Ooh that's good value,'' I thought, walking on obliviously into an onionless void of apocalyptic emptiness. :(

Last night was a shared portion of fish and chips from the chippy

Tonight will be the curry I was going to make last night. Will be a sort of chicken jalfrezi. Probably naan to go with it and maybe a packet of Maltesers for pud

Scrap that cos the chicken's gone off  Oven tea it is. Breaded chicken breast, chips and beans.

When I hurt my hand in the summer I couldn't chop anything. I ended up buying frozen chopped onion and garlic so I didn't have to rely on Mr Looby to help me cook. I've carried on keeping a bag in the freezer for onion emergencies. It's been really useful again this week as my hand has flared up.

It's obviously more expensive but not that much more I don't think.

Last night was warm ciabatta rolls with chicken/shallot/red pepper/mayo for the kids and mussels and cucumber and mayo for me (since my boy had eaten a load of the chicken  ). We also had work leftovers - a falafel burger for him and half a sausage roll each for me and her - and crisps and cream cakes cos Friday etc
Today I'm doing braised pork, chestnuts and wild mushrooms with juniper and rosemary. I've got a bit of mash left in the fridge so that plus garlic bread and some steamed cabbage to go with it. Jaffa cakes for pudding.

Unless i perk up a bit, tomato soup with butter and black pepper.

This lot are playing tonight so I do want to feel better Tripalium Podcast 52 - Fallbeil

Tomato soup is the best when you feel crappy. When I was ill as a kid my mum would do me a tin of Heinz tomato soup with a bag of crisps as a special treat, still crave it now if poorly. Really hope you feel better and can get out.

Thank you. I got the other half to bring me some milka before he went to the football so I've had a few squares of that, listened to MOAR techno ABYSSAL PODCAST 31 | DRVG CVLTVRE and done a bit of language practice. I'm feeling a bit less sorry for myself now. Practising a bit of German normally does perk me up whatever the matter is... Do you know what you are having for tea yet?
