What will happen if I put icing in a cream whipper?

It's always the same :(

I'm fairly confident my friend (my cake making partner) doesn't read these boards so I'll let you in on a little secret :hmm:
For her birthday I'm making a 3D cake of her face as an Egyptian princess
I took about 15 photos of her from different angles under the pretence it would look good on Flickr, and I've been practicising modelling her nose out of marzipan :D
It would make more sense - and make me look like less of a nutter - if you knew her.

That is brilliant.

You have no idea how impressed I am by this.

If you succeed, there needs to be pictures. Lots of them.

Phew! Thought I didn't have a picture for a moment.

My mum used to help out when I was at little school and made cakes like that with us! It was great cuz you each got a little bowl of cake mix with colours in the stir then sling it in in layers!

Yep. If you can make marble cake you can make psychedelic cake

If it was up to me I'd make a new keraazzy cake every time I saw someone, but it takes ages to do my hair and that's usually more important.

I don't care what your hair looks like!! If we ever meet I would really like a keraazy cake please :D Even if it's a fairy cake :D

I have no fucking idea but they look like this (and no I haven't but I bet I'd like it :D)

My eyes just bled all over my keyboard :(

i so want to make cakes this weekend.
psychedelic ace ones.
and hope my batter doesn't 'bleed' into each layer and end up looking like a mud cake :(

can you not just whisk a very airy icing and pipe it on using a piping bag? not sure what would happen if you put icing into the cream whipper. if only i had gas canisters for mine i'd try it for you as i'm intrigued now :D

One of these

I'm making cupcakes and want them to look as OTT as possible.
I'd rather not clean up a sticky disaster if it can be avoided, has anyone done it? Which icing would be best?
I can't say for sure but I'd imagine that normal icing would be too thick to get 'aerated' (ie filled with bubbles/gas) in the way a liquid would.

I'd try it with a small amount of icing to start with. The whipper is fully washable if it goes wrong but you wouldn't want to lose all your icing in the process.
