The “Squad” Will Need to Realize that You Can’t Defeat White Supremacy with White Supremacy

If I were one of these four I'd be very concerned for my safety. The extreme RW media is pushing stories about how much of a threat they are, and on freerepublic was this comment this morning:

There can be no coexistence, no kumbaya.

The democrat party must be destroyed, exterminated, one person at a time

We can not all just get along

As well as overtly racist and populist, that clip reminds you how truly fucking weird he is. It's a racism and populism that pushes all the buttons, without there being one iota of coherence. Not unusual for racism to be incoherent, but that sounds like a cut and paste of random sentences.

Edit: the irony is his attack on the 4 congresswomen is actually very strategic, but in his hands it sounds like somebody trying to do racist stand up after 9 pints.

I'm still not sure it is all that strategic really. I think everything about him is a chaotic mess of ego and bigotry and when he seems at his most coherent it's just because he's hit on something that gets applause from his base, through no plan of his own, and repeated it to feel the big man. Most dangerous thing about him really, he's not even trying to sculpt a state that follows his own racism and hate, he's just throwing out rhetoric for his supporters to do whatever they want with. Even after he leaves the myriad 'Minutemen', militia, Proud Boy and generally racist types will be near impossible to remove, even if the camps and ICE can be dealt with.

Trump repeated an unfounded claim that freshman lawmaker Ilhan Omar married her brother to sneak him into the US

President Donald Trump on Wednesday repeated an unverified rumor than Rep. Ilhan Omar married her brother to get him entry into the US.

"There's a lot of talk about the fact that she was married to her brother. I know nothing about it," Trump said in response to a question from the right-wing outlet OANN.

The claim that Omar's second husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, is her brother was first made by the US conservative blog Power Line in 2016, citing claims made on a Somali political forum.

Omar referred to the claim as "disgusting lies" in October.

You can see why they're worried about all those foreigners invading their lands though, you could barely spot a white face at that rally last night...Oh, err....

can't imagine what it must be like to be a PoC in the US right now. The fucking President is being explicitly racist on a daily basis now, his warped followers chant that with him approving, many make excuses for him, his popularity rises with every filthy racist thing he says, they have concentration camps...

How long until some nut takes it too far past "way too far"?

"There's a lot of talk about the fact that she was married to her brother. I know nothing about it ... I don't know but I'm sure that somebody would be looking at that."

should be countered with:

"There's a lot of talk that he raped a 13 year old. I know nothing about it, I don't know but i'm sure somebody would be looking into it"

I suspect it's strategic at the level of his team, but yeah, in his hands it's flappy instinctive shit - and all the more difficult to combat for that.

They were already there before him though

Night of the Fascist

The gloves are off. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? No one in 2020 is going to be able to say that they voted without really getting how Trump really was. There was this idea too that they respected the office but not the holder of it, but the attitude outside his base is now 'Fuck that '

the strangest bit is that it took place at the Minges Coliseum

exchange Trump had with a guest at the WH who was there about the rights of Yazidi people being persecuted in Syria

Nadia Murad: "They killed my mum, my six brothers."

Trump: "Where are they now?"

Murad: "...They killed them. They are in mass graves."

Trump: "I know the area very well."

Trump literally thinks there's an area called Massgraves. :D:D

The video is somehow even worse

Donald Trump's 2020 re-election campaign starts selling plastic straws

The Trump campaign says they have a plan to make straws great again.

Brad Parscale, President Donald Trump's re-election campaign manager, tweeted on Thursday evening, "Making Straws Great Again," along with a link to buy Trump-branded straws from the Trump campaign store.

"Liberal paper straws don’t work. STAND WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP and buy your pack of recyclable straws today," says the straws' description on the Trump campaign website.

The pack of 10 straws sells for $15, coming out to a cost of $1.50 a straw. According to the posting, the straws are "Laser engraved."

I had noticed this too. Misogyny seems to be a unifying force for the far right:

Only for women, though, do Trump and his supporters deploy their most sinister lines of attack. In 2016, it was not enough to call Hillary Clinton “Crooked Hillary” or criticize her vision for the country. Rather, it was necessary to call for her physical removal from public life, and her sentencing to a place where she wouldn’t be heard from again. “Lock her up!” is as identifiable with Trumpism as “Build the wall!,” and the chant continues at rallies to this day, even as Clinton, true to Trump’s wishes, has faded into the background.

There was a troubling sense of déjà vu, then, when the crowd at Trump’s rally in Greenville, North Carolina, on Wednesday trained their eyes on Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, chanting “Send her back!” in a play on Trump’s own words from a few days before. It was an evolution, an even darker version of the invective against Clinton—where the president’s supporters once called for a female opponent’s imprisonment, now they are longing for another to be literally banished from the country.

Trump Supporters Don’t Make Chants About Men

Merged with a hatred of anyone who isn't white and I fear what will result.
