What stupid shit has Trump done today?

We now know Trump directed illegal campaign contributions and instructed his legal representative to commit acts both knew were illegal, then both tried to cover up those acts.
The politicians will continue to vote on party lines but cracks are starting to show and that's what Trump is scared of.
There is now little choice for the Republicans but to plan their escape, and that means ditching Trump.
There's no "if" any more, only "when".

He's on full deflection mode today

I hope I’m wrong, but I have a feeling “when” is 2024.

There's a lot of wishful thinking about the orange one's demise. He'll survive this latest stuff with ease and complete his 1st term at least. He's scum but skillful at rallying his mob, and the right wing media is a huge asset. The Dem leadership is the same that blew it in 2016, wimpy and afraid to really fight for anything.

Which is why whenever he goes to the states with a Dem incumbent, he keeps repeating that a vote for a Democrat is a vote for Schumer, Pelosi and Waters. He does not even mention the names of other Dems.

I’d get more pleasure seeing him soundly humiliated by the electorate than thrown in jail, although a lot of shitty things will happen before it gets to that stage and I can see some benefit in his reign ending sooner.

The cunt has spent most of his life escaping the noose. Can't see anything changing yet, but there must some really serious stuff out there that will eventually get the orange turd finally flushed down the bog.

I'm going to stick my neck out with one of my famous predictions.

The Republican party will decide Trump can't go on anymore
They will ask him to resign the presidency
Trump will be forced to do so or be impeached (but the party won't want that as it'll look worse for them).
If he doesn't go, impeachment will be forced

The FBI will have fun by charging him with everything they can think off
Trump will kill himself

Time will tell but I've been right about everything else so far.

Some of them will, certainly. I'd be amazed if the Congressional GOP does nothing about it though - this is unprecedented already and we are not anywhere near the end of it yet.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the GOP did nothing. The corruption in government has gotten so common that they may feel if they do something about Trump and Co., that they'll be next. Setting standards has the uncomfortable side effect of coming back to bite you in the ass. At the moment, I'm happy that this little bit of corruption has gotten weeded out. Trump will go in his own time.

They still have to beat him politically, or none of this matters. I don't understand why they don't understand that.

Don't understand why who doesn't understand that?

Of course, we have to beat them politically. (I say "them" rather than "he" because Trump isn't alone in any of this.) That, as you know, is a long process--a generational process. One of the reasons the GOP has done so well is that they know its a generational process and started planning what we currently see way back in the 70s and 80s. We didn't get here overnight, we aren't going to recover overnight.

(If you're talking about most posters here, I think a lot of us are just happy for one sunny day in a long series of pretty bleak ones.)

Not sure any of that will happen. If there is to be anything at all, it will start with the mid-terms and whether the Republicans decide that the balance shifts over to dropping him. Won't be easy for the Dems to make major gains given the seats up for election are largely their own. These latest revelations just tighten the screw in terms of what is already in play, they don't change the game.

edit: sorry, as just said by Yuwipi Woman

The Democrats need to do some house cleaning too. They've proven that they're pretty tone deaf and incapable of making the moves needed to change the course of the party where their base is leading them. I listened to Pelosi try to justify why she should continue in a leadership position and everything that came out of her mouth was self-serving crap completely disengaged from the modern world. She's still living in the 70s. Yes, she's done some good things in the past, but when you become out of touch with the needs of the average person, its time to step aside and let other people lead.

There are increasing calls for a change in leadership:

Linda Sanchez calls for 'generational change' in Dem leadership

And, don't get me started on the corporate ties of the Democratic Party ...

it's true that the base and elements of the elite will always be on side, especially as they often admire molestation, racism etc.

But there are surely a key number of independents and more moderate (R) voters to tip the balance, assuming Trump runs in 2020.

By that point, the novelty aspect will be well past sell-by. He hasn't branched out.

Sure, the Dumbocrats can always be relied on to drop the ball but it's hard to think they'll put up someone more arrogant and stale than Clinton, who still won by 3 million votes.

The biggest hope for Trump is gerrymandering, racist voter purges and more hacking. Also, a wag-the-dog war could well be in the offing.

I'm not saying he wont win, but he's certainly going to be less appealing overall than last time, and that's cause for optimism.

As Cohen’s lawyer has said he is willing to spill the beans on the whole Russian hacking and collusion scenario both of them probably need to be very careful with cologne bottles and sticky door handles!

Cohen's lawyer probably shouldn't be running his mouth about who might have said what to federal prosecutors.

I think that the GOP party hierarchy is up to their necks in it. I can't see them opposing Trump in a meaningful way. In the DOJ inditement of the 12 senior Russian intelligence officers, it was mentioned that they also compromised GOP servers. I suspect that the GOP has much in the way of stuff like Gym Jordan, or the two Congressmen who are being done for corruption (who were also interestingly the first two Congressmen to endorse Trump) hanging over their heads.

I also think it's going to get much worse for Trump, Gop, and people like Hannity (who was also Cohen's client).

But i also think that without the Dems making significant victories in the mid terms, nothing is likely to happen.

Can you imagine what will happen if the Dems do not make significant victories in the mid terms?

Cohen was Trumps lawyer, he was the legal professional employed by Trump, so if Cohen acted illegally it is his own fault. I've asked my lawyer to do things for me loads of times, if what I asked him to do wasn't legal he told me so, then advised me how to achieve the same outcome in a legal manor.

I hope Trump gets a 2nd term, he has given me more laughs in the last couple of years then all the white bread politico's across the globe.

the yemenis who've been slaughtered by the equipment he's sent SA might have a different opinion. if they could speak, but they can't. unlike you, who can.

The Yemenis were being slaughtered by US made munitions under the Obama presidency, just for a little perspective.

not that it stopped with mr "i won't engage in overseas wars so vote for me". because see, he's doing it too. not to metion lobbing bombs at people in syria.
but y'know, hey look over there, obama/clinton/soros ...

The only thing the Democrat leadership is good at is holding on to their positions of power and actively undermining the progressives. Steny Hoyer was recorded telling a candidate in Colorado to drop out of the race. And the former VP candidate Joe Lieberman called Ocasio Cortez a hard leftist.
