What coffee are you drinking just now?

My neighbours keep buying me coffee when they come from Paris, don't know why, would seem wrong to say no though. Grand Mere, not the greatest coffee but . . . . or they get me Carte Noire, hey ho. By choice Lavazza for me.

sainsbury's 'so organic' from peru.

i remember leaving it at a friend's house years ago, and i ended up being given it back earlier in the week. it runs out of date next month :D
ran out of not-years-old coffee last night, and cba to go to the shops

tbf, it's not too terrible :hmm:

For the next 20 weeks - or maybe a bit less because I may drink it daily when I'm home over Xmas - I will be working my way through the kilo of Santa Clara Guatemala Antigua beans I bought from these excellent people :-

It's a bit of a haul up to the shop, so I had considered getting a little more than my usual half kilo (10 weeks / 20 brews), but when she misheard and weighed out a kilo, I thought I would go with it. My house is cold, but I may put half of it in a second preserving jar and put it outdoors. (I have no fridge).

I am drinking via the French press at the moment and it is good - get my clever dripper on Sunday so interested to see if there is any difference.

It is the nicest coffee I have tasted in a while and seems to get better every cup. I am storing in an air tight container in the freezer.

If you're going to drink it within 3 weeks, I honestly wouldn't bother. Imu there are some pretty divergent opinions on whether or not freezing causes beans harm / affects them negatively. And Ime beans often benefit greatly from a bit of aging, too. I've often found bags only reaching their best / becoming really interesting after 5-7 days.

This months subscription from Square Mile is a Brazilian bean that is really nice, it is a chocolatey tasting bean and is even tastier (IMHO) than last months Ethiopian. Also, I think I have found the perfect grind setting now on my Haribo and I am getting a really nice bloom of this which is most satisfying.

I'm out. :( I was in Lavenders yesterday getting a pasty too. They've got a good selection. And I forgot to get any cheese. This weekends been a right fuckup so far.

Got shamed into buying a couple of bags of espresso roast from Square Mile & polishing up / cleaning out / renovating an espresso machine when Artichoke bought some espresso beans for her sister.

So I'm drinking Jirmiwachu single estate atm. And - after 2 days to degas / relax - it's possibly the nicest coffee I've had this year. Reminds me why espresso is worth it!

Instant from the corner shop...Kenco I think, but not sure, as that was all they had apart from decaff...I've decanted it into my coffee tin and I can't be arsed to rifle the recycling to find the jar.

HasBean delivery today:

Costa Rica Don Mayo Finca Bella Vista 2012

Erm, wtf? "an amazing honey sweetness; not just in taste, but in its amazing mouthfeel. In that honey loveliness there are tinned peaches and dried apricots, which is super elegant and has a lovely smooth, long, finish." :D

Anyhow, if you can get beyond all that bollocks this is lovely coffee. It is a sweeter one, they're right, although the tinned apricots and super elegant mouthfeel are a little lost to my chilli-ravaged tastebuds. Very nice, nonetheless.

I was going to ask what was hot at the moment.
I may take a punt, but I'll order some Guatemalan if they have any just to be sure..

I'm reduced to Lavazza Espresso beans "il caffè preferito dagli italiani" - allegedly.
A real struggle to get any meaningful body out of them - it's swamped under the "slightly burnt" high notes.

I'm currently drinking something that butcher terms 'jimmychoo' espresso.

But without the pack in front of me (and being too lazy to google) I'm buggered if I can remember what it's really called atm :hmm:
