Vegetarian Meals In Pubs

Is there much difference between that an the old battery hen?
I think most people that didn't want to by battery eggs still don't want to buy eggs from hens in any cages.
They are bigger, and they have access to a nest and a feed trough, but, yeah, still caged.

Battery hens were banned by the EU at the begining of 2012.

Production of battery chickens / eggs was banned in the EU.

However battery eggs / chickens are still a lot cheaper. In the vast majority of cases eggs as an ingredient are imported from outside the EU and are battery. If free range is used the product will say.

You can still buy 'fresh' eggs from many shops which are battery and imported from outside the EU.

IMO the vast majority of sandwich shops still use battery eggs. They would say so if they used free range.

In reality I'm not sure how much difference there is between barn eggs and free range - but the EU did not ban barn chickens either.

I don't like pickle on burgers but it's the texture not the flavour. I'm happy to pick them out rather than deny pickle lovers their fix. I just give mine to Mr s.

How about a note on the menu saying 'ask if you want pickle/gherkin'?
You want these :)

The proposed menu (draft) has been sent. Bear in mind this is a 'burger menu' with mains as an alternative.

Cheese and leek burger
Halloumi burger
A third veggie burger will be added from two possible options.

Battered Halloumi with peas, chips and tartare sauce.

Bean chilli with rice and a bowl of sour cream.

Also lots of nibbly bits like mozzarella cheesy chips, nachos, bean chilli nachos, onion rings and stuff. Cheese/veggie/stuff wraps or baguettes for lunch.

Sounds fantastic!!! I only once had the privilege of sampling your food when I urgently needed it and it was *amazing*:)

That's a pretty bloody amazing veggie selection!

Nice one.

Sounds good, but I think your 3rd option should be a cheese (maybe even dairy) free one :)

That's a really good veggie menu I think especially as you said you have a fairly small menu. More than 1 burger option is unheard of!

IF it is approved and it is a big if) then it will be flexible. So will look at things like falafel burgers and other options. Guess it would be down to feedback with good old trial and error :)

I'm thinking of opening vegetarian restaurant and as a nod to meat eaters thought I'd offer lasagne as an option.

It never ceases to amaze me how in some pubs or eateries hoe there is such a lack of imagination in regards to vegetarian dishes.

Fobbing off carnivores with a 'lasagne' is a bit miserly :( only ONE choice for carnivores  I will not go and will tell my friends to avoid it

I know you're Making A Point :D, but the real point is that meat eaters CAN eat veggie dishes; vegetarians cannot eat meat ones.

Some vegetarians have meat eating friends. A culinary apartheid doesn't benefit anyone.

I also have a vegetarian friend who does not like vegetables :D
