just to show how the treatment of blonde-babe-in-jail is contrary to the application of the rule of law in a liberal democracy (which Ukraine isn't), corresponding to the principle of no retrospective legislation is the principle of serving one's sentence: changing a law (in this case eliminating it) doesn't liberate all those convicted under it. But what the hell: just make things up as you along. Let the Prez give a pardon - if he/she has that power, & you can find the Prez.

Added: there is somewhere the Ukrainian word for 'self-defence', that longish 'S ... oo ...' word, & the peeps here don't have any anarcho insignia, but not as rough-looking as fighters from Kyiv Square.
Seems there was no police protection of the property, so as orders must have been given they weren't respected somewhere down the line of command.

should have read the title of the piece: it is Yanukovich's residence ('Zhurnalistov pustili v reidentsiyu Yanukovicha');
but probably not privately-owned, more probably a newly built state-owned complex as there's more than one building here, & they vary in type. There seems to be an indoor sports centre, like for a tennis court, etc. (#20), a fire/ambulance station (20), a single-storey conference centre (7 & 3), & three largish residences (1, 45 & 49; 4; 40). Also it seems he was into water sports (27-9 & 54!) - any ideas on the babe in the strange photocopy @ #30 (she seems to be connected in some way)?;
the 2012 article linked by copliker (lunchtime today) shows pics of this complex, & usefully describes the history of its ownership, & the money links to London, British Virgin Islands, materials suppliers & craftsmen from France, Germany, Italy, Finland & Australia, etc.

The other day we had the point about emus & ostriches. Seems they have better living conditions than many Ukrainians - that is, if you're a feathered, flightless biped & owned by a rich Ukrainian. (Source: the above sequence.)
ADDED: that rich Ukrainian is the Prez himself.
(When it's other than the noun I keep leaving out that first 'i'.)
So thoughtful of Yanu, or the architect, to have those barriers on the roof to save the snow falling unexpectedly on the Prez's Royal Ostriches.

2 very different narratives coming from BBC and RT, unsurprisingly . While BBC are emphasising a glorious new dawn and the people winning RT are the only people really showing whats happening elsewhere.
Yanukovich has issued a defiant statement after touring his heartlands saying he has no intention of resigning and nor will he be doing any further deals with armed bandits . The regions in the south and east have basically said from hereonin theyll be running their own affairs as Kiev is just a lawless power vaccuum were the agenda is set by roaming armed mobs even the opposition cant control .
Theyre also pointing to the fact that agreements entered into with the opposition were reneged upon by the rioters . And all decisions after that were pretty much done under duress and the threat of death. Rendering them invalid.
Basically theyre calling it a coup . And theyre right on that score at least. The agreement had been elections. The fash were having none of it and ignored it.
So we have the interior ministry announcing the police are with the protestors, western ukraine running about mad tearing down more Lenin statues, a power vaccumm in kiev being filled by prowling armed fascists with police support, while the elected opposition oligarchs..the minority.. try and get fellow Oligarch Timoshenko back in power despite plainly controlling neither the streets, the police or the facsists . With Eastern and Southern Ukraine, were all the industry and fertile agricultural land is based, telling the rest of them to piss off . To a large extent the split has become ethnic as well as political and regional.
RT are also showing video footage of one of the leading right sector boyos who now apparently has some sort of authority over the police announcing he intends to kill all jews, communists and Russians.
This may not end well Im afraid.

The red and black is the flag of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists the successor of the Ukrainian Military Organization which then controlled/composed the Ukrainian Insurgent Army in 1940 (well the Bandera half did) following the 1940 split.

Nice. But even the birds have flown the nest.
Does it mimic a Greek Catholic or a Russian Orthodox church? The former unlikely as that syncretic sect is largely in the west, where Prez has little support.
(The named photo is Maks Levin: does that mean some Yanu supporters may torch a synagogue?)
