TV series recommendations general (excluding Netflix/ Amazon)

Just finished Day of the Jackal, which has been a fantastic ride. And such a satisfying ending. There was a moment in the last episode where me and my partner both spontaneously clapped and cheered and it's a long time since a TV show has achieved that level of buy-in in this house.

Like everyone else I also loved it overall, but am I the only one dissatisfied with at least a couple of aspects at the business end of the story?

Whereas I was happy with him not being caught or killed, I really wanted him to have failed his assignment to kill the River project guy.

And agent Bianca Pullman’s death felt far more unjust and annoying. They could have left her injured but alive at the climax confrontation. I’m fine with ambiguous morality characters you can’t make your mind up regarding what you want their fate to be, but poor Bianca definitely didn’t deserve to end up at the morgue and it left a bitter taste in my mouth.

But even accounting for the above, a great series :)

Patience on Channel 4/ All4 is a fairly watchable crime drama miniseries, even if not exactly an original premise: a young autistic woman working at York’s police archives becomes an invaluable asset to the Yorkshire rozzers in solving the most puzzling cases due to her unique insight and lateral thinking.

Doesn’t do anything new by any means, and sometimes you even guess who the culprit will turn out to be well before the reveal (though not necessarily how or why), Still, well paced, not unduly unpleasant or heavy themes as murder police shoes go, so entertaining enough as light drama fodder.

I watched the first 2 episodes this evening and really enjoyed it. Weird seeing York and then clearly another country when they're going into the police station and carpark.
