TV series recommendations general (excluding Netflix/ Amazon)

Yesterday I resubscribed to Apple TV to watch Silo. I needed to switch account, because my partner paid last time and I'd said I'd pay this time, plus I was hoping for a freebie week or something. The process of logging out, logging in and successfully paying took about three hours, much of it stuck in a Kafkaesque login loop. Eventually I successfully paid but the channel wouldn't activate for another hour. And I was offered three months free, which at the final step magically changed to one single week.

That is the last time I shall be paying Apple and my fire stick is being ordered tonight.

Quite enjoyed Silo season 2 episode 1, though pretty much zero happened and you only really need to watch the first five mins and the final two.

I ended up having to create a new email account just to sign up for free AppleTV+. I don't know how the hell some not-so-technical people get by with AppleID and all that. It was a massive pain, and buggy as shit.

Though I never had any intention of extending the free trial, to be honest.

I don’t understand what’s so complicated about it? I’ve never had any technical issues with AppleTV+. Indeed, of all the streamers, it has the best UI.

Once I signed up, it's easy peasy. Though I disagree about best UI. It was the process of getting an AppleID that foxed me. Someone had already signed up using my email address, my alt address kept giving an unknown error when I tried it, and I couldn't get anything to process until I created a brand-new obnoxiouslylongusername Gmail account that I could get in.

Finding it so hard to find anything worth watching at the moment. I try to do subscription-hopping, and wait till I've identified at least two things I really want to watch before doing so.

Might be worth going for NowTV once enough episodes of Jackal and the new Dune prequel thing are out but not yet. Apple at the end of Jan for Silo and Severance. But nothing appeals right now. So much dross.
If you have Virgin or Sky, you don't need Now TV for The Jackal. I'm watching it now, as Sky have it On Demand, plus they broadcast the first 5 episodes the other night which I recorded. I have Virgin and thought I wouldn't be able to get it, but surprisingly I did.

It's okay, it got better after the first episode I thought, but I can't really get my head around the angelic looking Redmayne as a cool assassin.

Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light

Excellent and classy stuff. Apologies if it has been recommended, but I've only looked at the last couple of pages.

It's the process of logging in. I'm doing it from a Roku. I've had things go wrong every single time. Last year the only way I could make it work was to get hold of an iOS device and log in on that first. You have to jump back and forth between TV and web, you get inexplicable errors, it takes ages to sync up once you've paid.

Only 4 more episodes of jackal left and 5 left of Dune.

And I’ve just started Ben Wheatley’s Generation Z, also on 4.

Seems entertaining so far and what’s not to love about Sue Johnston and Anita Dobson as zombies?

Robert Lindsey and Johnny Vegas too.
It's a criminal waste of talent.

I'm enjoying Day of the Jackal.

Don't mind the pace and I like the retro styling and nods to the original. Just 2 episodes in but intrigued so far
We binged all episode so far and loving it.
We definitely want him to get away with it all though.

Really loved season one of Colin From Accounts. Season two seemed pointless. We haven’t bothered finishing it.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I did the same. Loved the first series, just didn't get far with series 2. I didn't mean to stop watching, I just did. You are right, what's the point? The story finished.

I also agree with Kaos and only murders.
Kaos I made a conscious decision to give up after two (maybe three). Only murders, I just drifted off. Might go back ehen I finish bobs burgers. It's not terrible, but I'm not in any rush .

I really want to like The Cleaner and I watch them all because Greg Davies. But it’s not 1/8 as good as it could or should be. I’m not even sure I can articulate why.
He seems like a nice enough bloke but his stand up is terrible and I haven't enjoyed a single thing he has been in with the exception of taskmaster.

Welcome to Chippendales.

Excellent 8-part true crime drama about the rise and fall of Steve Banerjee, the creator of The Chippendales.

Hilarious to begin with, gets darker as it progresses.

Really enjoyed tonight's episode. The buildup to the finale should be good.

There's something about the way this is filmed that I really love - it does have this 70s feel occasionally, although the action takes place in present-day. It's one of many little nods to the original film that I like a lot..

Matlock. A brand new remake of the legal drama series of the same name from the 80s. Never heard of the original but the first episode of this is very enjoyable. Mostly because Cathy Bates is fucking great in this :)

On Sky/ NowTV. 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating so looking forward to the rest of the series.

We've watched the whole series. Very different and good fun.

Glad there's a season 2 coming.

I watched the first episode and really enjoyed it. Second episode comes out today I think.

Wasn’t Matlock that TV show that Grampa Simpson and his fellow residents at the care home were always obsessed with?

Yes. This is a remake (more of a re-imagining) of that.

It might run as long though, unless Kathy Bates kicks the bucket.
