I really can't see past Flynn, even if only as a caretaker candidate for the rest of the 2012 qualifying campaign. Judge him by results at the end of that. I'd hate for Flynn to take the senior job and then be hounded out in eighteen months time after losing 2-4 at home to Moldova, and therefore be lost to the under-21s as well, where he's been outstanding.
Wales will always have a thin squad but a guy like Flynn is exactly the kind of character to get the most out of those limited resources. I liked Toshack too, but he was always going to be damned by his outspoken career as a media pundit before he took the job. Wales looked very shaky defensively on Friday, though, and sat far, far too deep, even after going behind, and that was extremely disappointing.
