Tory MP Crispin Blunt: 'I out myself as poppers user'

Is it fair play that the only reason a man would vote against banning something is his own personal use of the drug in question?
being as he has a vote in the matter and i don't it's nice he's voted the way i would have. pity about all the times he's voted the other way.

what a top thread, only on page one, and am still laughing at :

"I soon stopped after the time I honked so much in a speed fueled mastubatory frenzy that I blacked out in bliss and, when I came to, I was still hammering my poor old todger like a rabid dog in heat and I had a spilt bottle of amyl all over my chest and bed."

:D

"Madam Speaker, I abhor the government's plans to outlaw local anaesthetic! As somebody who regularly hires out ones anus as a spare parking space, these measures would mean that I would struggle to fit anything bigger than a small quad bike!!"

Exactly how old are you cause poppers were invented in 1844?
Those pesky nineteenth century teenagers!
He was too busy misspending his youth sniffing night soil fumes with Sasaferrato to notice new fangled designer drugs like amyl.

Just heard him on the radio saying he thinks he's secured a good compromise whereby everything will be banned in April but amyl nitrite will be unbanned by the summer recess. Good luck with that Crispin Cunt. Really impressed with your self-interest. And idiocy in believing the government will unban any drug.

Lets distinguish between research chemicals, ie legal highs, & Amyl Nitrite (poppers), the latter, which has been used safely for over 50 years.

He may well be a self serving Tory cunt, but he's got a point.

I'm very fond of poppers, or was, but be warned that there is a risk of sight loss, sometimes severe, since they were changed from isobutyl nitrite to isopropyl nitrite in 2008. It's probably not that common but I don't know if there are any prevalence studies that would give a useful idea of the level of risk. Probably not, as it's a newish thing.

Here's one case report:
‘Poppers maculopathy'—an emerging ophthalmic reaction to recreational substance abuse

And a few more:

Yes, but his point is borne entirely out of self interest, ignores many other drugs that also haven't killed anyone but will be banned, and, as far as this bill is concerned, crucially ignores the havoc that will be let loose on the NHS and addicts of legal benzos, the banning of which will lead to thousands of hospital admissions and deaths.

ETA In case anyone wants to misread that last sentence...there will be thousands of hospital admissions through seizures caused by abrupt cessation of benzo use. And there will be deaths, the number of which I wouldn't like to guess.

I'd almost guarantee natural cannabis strains are safer - and have more positive uses - than poppers. Self-serving cunt, playing the minority card to un-ban *his* drug.

You're right it does have an whiff of self-serving purpose about all this. I presume he's still towing the govt line on blanket banning all over 'psychoactive' substances (alcohol and tobacco excepted of course). Dickhead.

Nothing wrong with poppers. Great when you're horny and looking for that extra rush.

What about the other drug users who have had their drugs banned or are about to have banned?

(((((((((POPPERS)))))))))))

And what drugs would they be then? The myriad of research chemicals people are taking, that they have absolutely no fuckin idea of what they're taking?

Prohibition fuckin' stinks.

e2a: Tricky Mickey wrote a book on research chemicals, well worth a read! Lots of input fron U75 members.

Many banned drugs are relatively harmless and would be less harmful if regulated. I don't consider nitrous oxide, natural cannabis, MDMA, shrooms or even benzos particularly dangerous if used wisely. Most of them even have potential therapeutic benefits. Why would you fight for poppers and not cannabis?

You've totally misread everything.

He's in favour of medical cannabis, probably because he likes a toke.

Prohibition fuckin' stinks.

Indeed. So why do you appear to be believing that more prohibition will be any better?

You are correct that prohibition has led us down the rabbit hole of many unsafe RC's. But we are where we are and there is no way further prohibition is going to help. This Bill will lead to more deaths and even more drain on the NHS. And it won't do diddly squat to stop people taking and having access to what will almost certainly be even more dangerous drugs.
