The Trump presidency

"Killary"....what a looney tunes name from a lefty loon. Your pal Trumpski is a madman who hates the poor.
He is indeed and he's not my pal. Not even a little bit. You really can't get your tiny little mind round not liking either of them can you? However if Killary had won the election the exact same military action would either be taking place or have taken place already and you, 8den and CRI would be doing your best to downplay or justify it. Who's the fucking loony again?

There were 2 choices. I proudly voted for Hillary as I did for Bill twice. Trump is ignorant and mentally unbalanced and is thus far more dangerous.

The first part of your post doesn't match the second half. You proudly voted for her even though you think she's dangerous (though less dangerous than Trump). Which is it?

The difference on Syria apparently being that Clinton, like Trump, would have launched the same attack but 6 hours earlier.

Do folks have any idea how ridiculous this "but Clinton would have done the same thing, even sooner, so she would have been worse," nonsense sounds, especially now?

Come on TomUS . I'm still trying to work out what your position is. You were forced to vote for the 'less dangerous' candidate whom you're a proud supporter of and now you're here to complain about Trump carrying out Hillary's stated policies and to smear other posters who've held a consistent anti-Trump anti-Hillary line throughout as Trump supporters. Can you not see how that adds up to a steaming pile of bullshit?

Of course, we are clearly missing the vital and only correct interpretation of those words because we aren't Americans who have lived in Britain for years

To be fair a few idiots have managed to spam a couple of threads to the point where there's no point contributing but there's still a lot worth reading and contributing to on the forum as a whole.

Yeah, I know. Just frustrated with lots of stuff politically - especially this defeatist, 'least worst or else...' shit that has paralysed any kind of challenge to anything now, smeering of good posters with solid left politics for doing so, combined with pages and pages of regurgitating twitter and mass copy and paste. This place has died for me ever since the EU ref tbh, and I did say end of last year that I was going to move on.

You're not allowed to criticise Clinton as a neoliberal, union-busting, warmonger. It would be 'mysogynist' do so and makes you a 'lefty loon'. Probably even a 'pal' of Trump.

What an anti-socialist, liberal cesspit this forum has become.

I blame the infusion of America politics, it's brought the forum down, made it dumber and more double-thunk. Hard to believe it's worse than a couple years ago say when the place was awash with support for NATOs adventures in narrative.

If I were Assad, I would make those calls to get my gaffs on the Cote d Azur and Paris dusted down and opened up, ready for the summer season as Syria may be a bit muggier than usual this summer

That's the thing about many a commentator. Whatever you think of Assad, he could have run when things were going a lot worse for him than now, and could have gotten a very cushy deal at that I don't doubt. Perhaps our view of Assad isn't the simple caricature who just wants grubby money and some power to torture underlings with isn't in line with reality. I reckon Assad actually does believe he is protecting his country, remember you don't have to be "a good person" to actually believe in something even if it might cost you your life. I just think it's time we in the West stopped imagining foreign leaders we don't like as just grubby hand-rubbing mustache-twirling little rat-people who are just in it for the money and power and then wonder why they don't act as our cartoon-characterizations predict they will.

Quoted so I can throw this pathetic defence of a dictator who uses chemical weapons back in your face at a later point.
