11 now. Tsitsipas 1/1. Totally the reverse of before. This is great stuff. Real quality from both of them.He really isn’t doing in this (fourth) set. 10 break points, just one converted

It was indeed a great match. A shame Tsitsipas faded in the fifth and it wasn't edge-of-the-seat competitive, but still a good comeback to take it to five sets.Shame, Tsitsipas fading in the fifth now. Djokovic keeping a high level so far.
Excellent match. I love clay court tennis like this. Lots of rallies, but players never passive, always looking for a winner or winning combination, and loads of imaginative shot making.
other actions sports people could take is go to a press conference and instead of answering questions, just read passages from a book or something. could be quite Dadaist. She could read from a book about mental health for example.Naomi Osaka continues to take a stand, this time saying she will not give any news conferences during the French Open because she wants to protect her mental health. This would mean she faces fines up to $20,000 (£14,160) per news conference she misses.
Although I do like to hear the athletes' perspective/insight, and I think many will think "well, of course you interview both the winners and the losers", when you stop and think about it it does stop seeming quite so inherently reasonable. And plenty of journalists are more interested in getting a reaction than the mental health of the, usually young, person they're questioning.
Will be interesting to see what, if anything, comes of it.
Would also be interested to hear what the likes of Serena Williams and Andy Murray have to say about this, as they're usually pretty openly vocal about player welfare.
Filibustering a press conference? That's be great To be fair, there's plenty of examples of athletes doing similar over the years, Cantona being the obvious go-to in Britain.other actions sports people could take is go to a press conference and instead of answering questions, just read passages from a book or something. could be quite Dadaist. all sports interviews are utterly inane and would be a loss to no-one but the journalists getting paid to do this crap
true not all....Filibustering a press conference? That's be great To be fair, there's plenty of examples of athletes doing similar over the years, Cantona being the obvious go-to in Britain.
I wouldn't say all sports interviews are utterly inane, but certainly most of the ones immediately after.
Nice to have on in the background while working, though.Still it is good it is on ITV4. Mind you loses its intensity with out much of a crowd.
Oh, shit, it's already started! I thought it started tomorrowStill it is good it is on ITV4. Mind you loses its intensity with out much of a crowd.
I think it was a 10am kick off while the coverage started at half nine.Oh, shit, it's already started! I thought it started tomorrow
I expect there will a few shock results with a lot of players lacking match practice.Thiem already out...
World number two Naomi Osaka faces expulsion from the French Open if she continues to refuse to speak to the media, Grand Slam organisers said.
She was fined $15,000 (£10,570) for not doing media after her first-round win against Romania's Patricia Maria Tig on Sunday.
A joint statement from the four Grand Slam organisers said Osaka also faces "more substantial fines and future Grand Slam suspensions".
They added that following her announcement, Roland Garros teams asked the 23-year-old to reconsider her position and were unsuccessful in their attempts to check on her wellbeing.
After a "lack of engagement" from Osaka, the Grand Slam organisers wrote to her to offer support, as well as to "remind her of her obligations".
"A core element of the Grand Slam regulations is the responsibility of the players to engage with the media, whatever the result of their match, a responsibility which players take for the benefit of the sport, the fans and for themselves," the statement said.
Well $15K is peanut to her. She earnt over $30 million last year so more like a library fine than a anything else. I think she has a point though & especially losers should not be compelled to face the press. They're doubling down.
Osaka could face French Open expulsion

The fine isn't really the issue (I mean, it is, but as you say, not to her), it's the fact that she may expelled from the French Open and, theoretically, other Slams too.Well $15K is peanut to her. She earnt over $30 million last year so more like a library fine than a anything else. I think she has a point though & especially losers should not be compelled to face the press.
I'm neutral on the issue at hand but the point you make is kind of the point. The money they make comes ultimately from tv deals. If they want the massive rewards they have to play that game.Well $15K is peanut to her. She earnt over $30 million last year so more like a library fine than a anything else. I think she has a point though & especially losers should not be compelled to face the press.
1. Its not the whitest game in the world. The whitest game in the world threatens to throw out a mixed-ethnicity champion for not giving interviews to pompous hacks.
Completely with her on this.
1. Its not the whitest game in the world.
2. Do you really think this decision is about race?
3. How did i know before i even opened the thread and saw you'd posted it was going to be a ridiculous post?
You tell me, you made the claim!Which game is whiter than tennis? How can we truly quantify it?
I never implied it was about race, it's about her mental health.
Couldn't care less about your sly dig. You don't support her actions?
You tell me, you made the claim!
You introduced race you didn’t mention mental health.
I didn’t state an opinion.
