Boycott the Olympics

Should we be boycotting the Olympics? There are many nations taking part with very questionable human rights records, some very "aggressive" nations and some with very poor doping records

It's not exactly Berlin 1936 is it? I mean, I know France is heading that way but give them a few more years.

All martial arts are daft, by dint of the fact they're Japanese. Name a country more batshit than Japan...
The* United** Kingdom*** of Great*** Britain and Northern Ireland****?

* The? What in case there are more than one?
** No we’re not, most of us hate the others of us
*** Is this a fucking fairytale
**** Really? Great
***** Oh I see, Great was part of Great Britain is because we name the country after the biggest of lots of islands…
****** well almost half the people who live there do actually want to be part of us, so that makes sense.

Off you go. That will stick it to the man. It’s like boycotting the Jubilee Line because it was supposed to be called the Fleet line…

You're not going to get an answer from them

I didn't realise I was. Many are speaking out about allowing Israel to compete. For me, Israel is one of many countries taking part that has an issue. I was just looking for opinions.
In my opinion yes , if you want to boycott the Olympics ( by which I think you mean not watch them on television) then go ahead and do that. You can even post on here every now and again about how you are boycotting the Olympics. That’s my opinion.

Taekwondo is Korean.
Agree, and there are significantly differences with Japanese, Okinawan, Chinese et al lineage and techniques' if not philosophy!
However, it's generally accepted among many martial arts analysts and commentators that modern TKD has it's roots in Shotokan, possibly amalgamating with other martial arts such as Tak Kyeon.

Tae Kwon Do also influenced Japanese fighting styles, for instance Mas Oyama briefly studied TKD and incorporated and adapted circular striking and more importantly kicking styles for techniques along with stances for his Kyokushinkai Karate

There's also arguments that westernised modern sports oriented versions of Karate & Tae Kwon Do/ITF competitions may have been influenced by western fencing, Savate and other similar long forms of western fighting.
