And Djokovic has just won - hard to believe he's not going to win the whole thing.

It would be exciting to have a completely new slam winner, though.

There isn't a man alive born in the 90s or later who's won one. It's extraordinary really. Tennis used to be a young person's game. You were finished by the time you were 30 mostly.

Yes, it's extraordinary.

I remember Becker winning Wimbledon aged 17 - that also seems extraordinary now!

So, a new champion but not in the way most people would have envisaged it!

Should be Medvedev's or Thiem's to lose now, I reckon...

Nick Kyrgios is a bit of a cunt, but can sometimes be quite a funny cunt... :D

I'll be honest, I'm a bit surprised by the level of indignation. Rules is rules, but isn't batting a ball to the back of court for the ball kids to collect at the end of a game fairly common? I'm sure I've seen other players do it.

Maybe it was particularly careless or something?

It seemed to be being hit in anger rather than just for a standard ballperson pickup. He'd already hit out in anger shortly before.

My OH said that when he realised what he'd done, the look on his face was as if he had just seen someone waving a gun at him.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke etc etc...

Anyway who do you all think will win now?

Zverev, Medvedev n Yhiem will give him opposition, but I think he’s got the hunger. (And having checked, he avoids both on his way to the final)

I’d like it to be Andrei Rublev just cis of his name. But it won’t be.

Looking good for Zrerev. Really don’t understand the point of the music when they’re seated, who’s it meant to be keeping entertained and pumped up? I can’t imagine the players want it.

I thought Thiem would beat Zverev fairly easily but two and a half hours and three sets in, it could still go either way!

Never seen Zverev play this well before.

Z blew that one, should have wrapped it up, but well played Thiem.

Making the loser do a speech is just cruel.
Good match, some great shots and you had no idea who was going to win until the last few minutes.

And yes, I don't like the runner up having to do a speech.

After watching a few matches at various tournmanets since the pandemic began, it's funny how now that ballboys are not allowed to act as players' butlers anymore, the players suddenly don't need to dry themselves with a towel between every single point....

Gaston Vs Wawrinka, just finished now, was the best match of the French Open so far by a country mile. What a fucking result, and what a fantastic match Gaston produced. Only 20 y.o. One to watch :)

I only got brief highlights as watching ITV4. It did look like a good game - very back and forth.

Sad about Wawrinka though - he's my favourite of the big players and this is probably his last chance at another slam (albeit a bit of a slim one...).

Be interesting to see how Gaston fares against Thiem.

Greatest one-handed backhand in the history of the game for me. A bit misery pants but superb player. Like Andy Murray, unlucky to have been born in the same decade as the big three.

Gaston is a joy to watch :)
Yes - close to beating Thiem! He's not done a lot else so far, he seems to have come more or less straight out of nowhere. Wonder what the future holds for him. He has played fantastically in this tournament.

Who is going to be the women's champion is becoming increasingly interesting...

Good match this. Tsitsipas saves match point then takes the third with a stunning game. Not much in it so far, but Djokovic winning more of the big points ... until now.
