The dog thread is better than the cat thread, because it features dogs.

So I’ve had a fretful few days, the boy being so sick and not obviously pooing, lacklustre, regular faint bum drip. Spent a million pounds at the vet for sedated X-ray and rectal exam. I really needed them to say ‘ah he’s fine enough and will probably get better’. Which they did
I’ve never been all that worried about him, he’s fit and healthy, but I’ve recently been so bothered about every little thing, think my bandwidth is full
Could he have eaten something he shouldn't that may be causing a partial blockage but wouldn't necessarily show up on an x ray?

I know someone who's Cocker Spaniel ate a birds nest without her owner's realising it. She was very poorly on and off and the X ray was inconclusive but it wasn't until the vet opened her up that they saw what she'd eaten.

She made a full recovery.

Is he a negative photo image rottweiler?! Or a rottie doge de Bordeaux mix??

I saw a grey staffie mix on the way home tonight - perfect staffy size, wiggly staffy hello butt but pale eyes and a very thick tail with a white top...I wonder if it was a staffy husky mix 😻
He is indeed a dogue de Bordeaux ( french mastiff ). Known for placid temperaments, affectionate and stubbornness. 👍 I can testify to that. Some sites say they are barkers; I've never heard him bark.

Gosh I certainly hope not. I’m going with the vets reassurance that as long as he continues to recover, and eats more as he’d lost over 2 kilos, keep giving the probiotics, he’ll be fine. Good to hear your friends dog made a full recovery, that sounds traumatic

I call cruelty, she is plainly completely bushed !! :( :)

Living her best life. I'm hoping she doesn't expect it every weekend. I got quite concerned about 20km, she slowed right down, but I sat with her for a while and gave her some food and she perked right up. Think it might be the heat, but I did insist she went in any streams that we found and she got bored with me nagging her to drink water. She finished fresher than me. I was sat in the garden when I got back, and she kept looking at where she knows the balls are kept in her poised position.

Asked dog care just to keep an eye on her today, but they reported she's totally Willow.

Ah it’s a tricky time for me just now and poor old Sid
Thank you XX. Yes, my mother-in-law's husband has just died and she is unable to walk their dog Sidney.
They live in an upstairs flat with a tiny courtyard, Sid doesn't not like toiletting in the courtyard and only does so if he is desperate.
AXXx (ma-in-law) is able to use her stairlift to let him out first thing in the morning.
I have been used to dead BXXX and Sid walking with me and my dog in the mornings a good half hour/ mile and can do this most days.
Evening dog walk is currently being covered by someone
More than anything what she and the dog need long term is a short 5 minute pee walk in between his morning and evening walk.
And what I need is a few mornings a week I don't have to take him out.

Sid is a medium large dog, gundog cross 11 years old 30+ kilos neutered.

Nice natured, chases cyclists and runners 50% of the time and cars 20% of the time but with no great drive or malice, just the stimulus gets him going. Otherwise a slow plodder who sniffs a lot. He's pretty chill with most dogs but will respond with fairly high charge to a dog that initiates a bit of aggravation.

I walk him off lead (rural setting away from traffic and cats) and never found him difficult to manage.
Most people think he's lovely but unfortunately I just can't take to him, much as I feel very sorry that his main person has gone. I am not a dog lover, even though I have a dog who is my most dear companion, and I would like to help the dog and my mother-in-law find a way of continuing to live together and give each other companionship, that she can afford, and that doesn't involve me too much.
Gosh what a long message. Perhaps I should have started with asking you what your fees are. Thanks

Best
