Yeah a neighbour takes his short haired black dog which I think is a pug out late at night when it’s hot (usually at sunset)
Still no nearer getting a dog myself, maybe next year, but I’ve said that since 2022! But have been thinking about how a dog would fit in with my life so that’s something
Obviously I don't know your situation but have you thought maybe about fostering to kind of get a feel for what dog ownership might be like?
My colleague has mentioned that, she does it via spaniel aid. And as said, I dog sit for a friend sometimes.Obviously I don't know your situation but have you thought maybe about fostering to kind of get a feel for what dog ownership might be like?
but is walking them at lunchtime actually a problem?
Bright sun on the back of black dogs in particular won't be comfortable. I did read that it's better for long-haired than short-haired breeds because the longer fur acts as some insulation.
Yes that makes sense. The road surfaces, not such a problem if you’re walking offroadi'm not that expert on all things canine, but isn't it paws on hot pavement / road surfaces that's the problem? and may be more of an issue in the afternoon / early evening than it is at lunch time.
Is she a Parson Jack Russell? I had one before the dog I have now but she was a demon with wildlife unfortunately. I get badgers in my garden at night and given half a chance she'd chase them and get them holed up under one of the outbuildings and nothing would get her to leave offIt's nice to have some new dogs on the thread
We always walk Sunny at 6am on weekdays, so no problem with the heat atm, it's the best bit of the day. These are the dog walks I dream of when we're trudging round on those cold, dark winter mornings.
She won't get a second walk when it's this hot, but she's getting plenty of stimulation due to our mole problem...

She'd stay there for hours if we let her.

When I let her down the garden for a last pee before going to bed at night I would have to open the door two minutes earlier and shout 'She's coming out!' so any badgers out and about would have a chance to get out of the way first.
No, just your bog standard short-legged Jack Russell.
For all her hunting and stalking, she's yet to catch or kill anything, AFAIK
We've spent her lifetime training Willow not to be intrested in small furry things, mostly due to the cats. But my god did her body posture change when we saw a rat in the park the other day.
I get a lot of squirrels in my garden and you'd only have to say Squirrels! to Bella and she'd go dashing to the back door and be running on the spot waiting for me to open it so she could run out and chase them off.No, just your bog standard short-legged Jack Russell.

So cute!
She is so gorgeous
Me and my boat
Guilty as charged
